All of the following 2024 Pessac Leognan red and white wines, along with 2024 Graves wines, were tasted in barrel in April in Bordeaux under non-blind conditions at either the chateau, various trade groups, organizations, negociants, or with consultants. When possible, wines were tasted multiple times. 2024 Pessac Leognan Red and White Wine Barrel Tasting Notes, Scores, Reviews

2024 Baret – Pessac-Léognan – Soft, round, supple, and fruity, with accents of smoke, cocoa, and herbs accompanying the currants on the mid-palate, this is one of the top values in Pessac Leognan, and the best part is, you can enjoy this on release. The wine is a blend of 70% Merlot, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2027-2032. 88-90 Pts

2024 Bouscaut – Pessac-Léognan – Dark cherries, mint, and strawberries create the core of this medium-bodied wine. The wine is chewy, vibrant, rustic and focused on its red plums, raspberries, and peppery spices. You should be able to enjoy this without much cellaring time. 2024 Bouscaut Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – White flowers, lemons, and white peaches are found in the perfume and on the palate, leaving you with a shot of crisp, juicy lemons, vanilla bean, and sweet, pineapples, that once they get started, they keep on going with its racy profile. 2024 Cantelys Rouge – Pessac-Léognan – On the leafy, herbal side, with a core of cherry and currant fruits, the wine is medium-bodied, forward, fruity, and fresh, with an easy entry, a soft dark cherry, herb, and menthol finish. 2024 Carbonnieux – Pessac-Léognan – Black cherries, flowers, and cigar wrappers create the perfume. The palate is medium-bodied; the fruits are bright and fresh, with an orange citrus note and a hint of cocoa that accompanies the cherries and red currants on the mid-palate and in the finish. 2024 Carbonnieux Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – Sweet lemons, and white flowers, with white peaches, and pineapple are there with just a swirl or two in the perfume. 2024 ChateauOlivier Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – White peaches, flowers, and citrus are available with little to no effort. The juicy lemons are accompanied by pink grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and green apples with a crisp, crunchy bite on the palate that carries through to the finish. 2024 ChateauOlivier Rouge – Pessac-Léognan – On the floral side with black raspberries, and red plums at its core, the wine is medium-bodied, bright, peppery, and fresh, with touches of thyme, and mint in the juicy, crisp finish. 2024 Clos Marsalette – Pessac-Léognan – Plums, currants, cedar, cherries, and tobacco scents open the wine. On the palate, the wine is soft, supple, round, and fruity, with sweetness in the blackberries and currants on the palate, and in the finish. 2024 Clos Marsalette Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – White peaches, green apples, flowers, vanilla, and honeysuckle form the core of the wine. 2024 Couhins Lurton – Pessac-Léognan – Flowers, and black raspberries open the wine. From there, the medium-bodied, palate delivers a profile of fresh, zesty, citrus-tinted red berries with a hint of Indian spice that pops up on the backend. This vibrant wine is quite classic in style and should drink well with just a bit of time in the cellar. The wine is a blend of 85% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13.5% ABV, pH 3.45. 2024 Couhins-Lurton Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – Flowers, white peaches, lemon curd, and fresh-cut grass pop in the aromatics. The wine is zesty, bright, and electric, with sweet grapefruit, lemons, green apples, and salty, crushed rocks that are on display from start to finish. The wine is close to 100% whole bunch pressed, and aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, amphora, and finished in stainless steel vats. Olivier Bernard Domiane de Chevalier “With 2024 Bordeaux, the spring focused on quantity rather than quality. We needed to wait for conditions to improve, which they finally did by July and continued through August. It began raining when we finally decided to harvest, but fortunately, the grapes were not diluted. To make the most of the vintage, it was important to ensure extractions were balanced so that the wines were fresh and well-balanced.”

2024 Domaine de Chevalier – Pessac-Léognan – Black currants, espresso, black cherries, smoke, and tobacco aromatics create the perfume. The wine is forward, fresh, chewy, and vibrant, with layers of elegant, peppery, black cherries, and currants, ending with a touch of mint, and tobacco in the finish. The wine blends 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. 12.45% ABV, 3.62 pH. The harvest took place from September 20 to October 8. 2024 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – Pineapples, vanilla, orange, and yellow citrus notes emerge from the perfume. This is a top vintage for Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, which you can enjoy in its youth or age for more complexity. Either way, it is a treat. 2024 Domaine de Chevalier L’Esprit de Chevalier Rouge – Pessac-Léognan – Cigar box, cocoa, black raspberries, and currants fill the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, crisp, racy, and vibrant, with a focus on its peppery, currants, and red plums in the mid-palate, as well as in the finish. I like the touch of mint that refreshes the palate that shows up in the finish. You can enjoy this with pleasure upon release. 2024 Ferrande Blanc – Graves – Flowers, white peaches, licorice, green apple, and pineapples come through easily in this fresh, juicy, bright, tropical-accented wine. 2024 Fieuzal – Pessac-Léognan – Black raspberries, flowers, assorted peppery spices, and red cherries are a pleasure in the nose. On the palate, the wine is delicate, fresh, and zesty, with a touch of Indian spices, and mint that accompany all of the strawberries, raspberries, and red plums, with their racy acidity. Veronique Sanders Chateau Haut Bailly “With 2024 Bordeaux, we endured a wet oceanic growing season. But, thankfully, due to a dry summer, we ended up with “août fit le moût” (August made the most). This is a vintage where nature has given us “air du temps” (spirit of times), with a lovely purity of aromatics and silky tannins.”

2024 Haut Bailly – Pessac-Léognan – Tobacco, currants, forest leaves, barbecue smoke, black raspberries, and cherries create a complex set of aromatics. The wine is elegant, soft, fresh, medium-bodied, and refined. It possesses a delicacy that allows the wine to focus on purity and charm, showcasing vibrancy in the fruits with just a touch of cocoa on the back of the finish, adding length and body. The wine is medium-bodied, with a focus on its elegantly-textured strawberry, and raspberry filled palate. Light, fresh, and refined, this will be easy to enjoy with pleasure on release. 2024 Haut Bergey – Pessac-Léognan – Tobacco, herbs, and red fruits create the perfume. Light. fresh, fruity, and airy, with lift, and energy, the red currants, and cherries come though easily on the palate, and in the finish, in this lighter, vibrant wine. The wine blends 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged entirely in amphora, and foudres, there is no new, French oak involved. 2024 Haut Brion – Pessac-Léognan – Cherry pipe tobacco, flowers, currants, spice, smoke, and herbs fill the perfume. The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, and soft, with delicate red fruits that shine in the mid-palate, and carry through to the energetic finish. The wine blends 47.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37.5% Merlot, and 15.3% Cabernet Franc. 13.2% ABV, 3.7 pH. Picking took place September 17 – October 4. Yields were 27 hectoliters per hectare. 2024 Haut Brion Le Clarence de Haut-Brion – Pessac-Léognan – Herbs, flowers, spice, tobacco, and red fruits open the perfume. The wine is medium-bodied, lifted, juicy, fresh, and crisp. There is a spicy note to the fruits on the palate adding complexity which I really like. This will drink well quite early in life. 2024 La Louviere – Pessac-Léognan – Black cherries, licorice, and smoke create the core of the wines character. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, bright, fresh, and vibrant, with strawberries, and currants with a lively presence on the mid-palate that carries through to the finish. 2024 La Louviere Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – Juicy, and fresh in the perfume with its showy display of grapefruit, flowers, tangerine, and green apples. The palate is crisp, vivid, and bright, with loads of sweet, yellow, and orange citrus, and just a touch of pineapple in the finish. 2024 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – The expressive nose easily reveals its aromas of white flowers, lemon rind, honeysuckle, and white peach. The palate is even better, showcasing a wealth of sweet, ripe white peaches, Meyer lemons, spicy pineapples, and green apples. There is purity, elegance, and lift from start to finish. The wine is made from a blend of 59% Semillon, and 41% Sauvignon Blanc, picking took place September 3 – September 9. Yields were 38 hectoliters per hectare. 13.75% ABV, 3.25 pH. 2024 La Mission La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion – Pessac-Léognan – Tobacco, mint, cassis, and cranberry pop in the nose. On the palate, the wine is bright, crisp, and chewy, with a piquant edge to the fruits in the finish. 2024 La-Mission-Haut-Brion – Pessac-Léognan – Flowers, cherries, smoke, tobacco, spice, and herbs fill the perfume. The palate is medium-bodied, energetic, fresh, and bright, with a spicy, smoky, herb tint to the red fruits in the mid-palate that carries through to the finish. The wine will drink relatively early, give it a few years in the bottle and it should fill out, and soften quite a bit. 2024 La-Tour-Martillac – Pessac-Léognan – Smoked herbs, tobacco leaves, black cherries, and cocoa fill the perfume. The wine is medium-bodied, energetic, and spicy, with a peppery edge to the black raspberries on the mid-palate. The finish comes in with more of those spices, bright red berries, and a tiny hint of chocolate on the backend. This should be approachable young. 2024 La-Tour-Martillac Blanc – Pessac-Léognan – White flowers, white peach, and green apples show easily in the nose. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is crisp, fresh, and juicy, with a lifted, pronounced freshness in the finish. The wine was produced from 94% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% ABV. 2024 Les Carmes HautBrion – Pessac-Léognan – Showing one of the deepest colors of the vintage, the wine pops with flowers, black cherries, licorice, smoke, chocolate, and plums in the aromatic profile. The wine is supple, spicy, and fragrant in the mouth, leaving you with sweet, spicy, peppery, black cherries, marine influences, and crushed rocks, which come through in the mid-palate, carrying through to the finish. The wine was made using 52% whole bunch clusters, blending 48% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 23% Merlot, 13.2% ABV, pH 3.6. 2024 Les Carmes HautBrion C Les Carmes HautBrion – Pessac-Léognan – Black cherries, flowers, licorice, and notes of tea fill the aromatics. Deeply colored for the vintage, the wine exudes dark red fruits, salt, crushed stone, and a hint of greenery that comes in on the back end of the finish. The wine is edgy, but, not overly so, with a mineral-driven, cherry packed finish. Using 29% whole bunches, the wine blends 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, 12.9% ABV, 3.55%.pH. The wine is aged in 25% new, French oak barrels, vats, and amphora. 2024 Lespault-Martillac – Pessac-Léognan – Black cherries, cocoa, smoke, and red plums form the wines character. Medium-bodied, soft, forward, and fresh, the plummy finish is quite charming. Vibrant, fresh, and fruity, the delivers loads of sweet, juicy pears, green apples, white pepper, and pineapple, with the sweetness of white peach that sneaks up on you in the finish. 2024 Malartic Lagraviere – Pessac-Léognan – Flowers, and raspberries pop in the nose with their spicy edge. Medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant, soft, forward, and fruity, this will be a charming, vibrant wine that will offer pleasure on release, and for 15 or more years after that. The wine is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. 12.5% ABV. Yields were quite low at only 19 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2027-2042. 91-93 Pts

2024 Pape Clement – Pessac-Léognan – Tobacco, smoke, chocolate, and black cherries reveal their essence in the perfume, as well as on the medium- to full-bodied palate. The fruits on the mid-palate are juicy, crisp, and tannic, with a nice touch of salty cherries, chalk, chocolate, and spice that is on display from start to finish.
