All of the following 2024 Margaux wines were tasted in barrel in April in Bordeaux under non-blind conditions at either the chateau, various trade groups, organizations, negociants, or with consultants. When possible, wines were tasted multiple times. 2024 Angludet – Margaux – Light/medium-bodied, fresh, crisp, red cherry, and currant-filled wine in a soft, forward style for early drinking pleasure. This will offer pleasure on release, and for at least a decade after that. Drink from 2027-2038. 88-90 Pts

Henri Lurton Chateau Brane Cantenac “With the 2024 Bordeaux in Margaux, our biggest issue was being ready in the vineyards and ensuring we could control the continuous mildew attacks. Identifying the best moment to harvest was also key to the vintage.”

2024 Brane Cantenac – Margaux – Red currants, cherries, flowers, Asian spice, tobacco leaves, and hints of cedar shine in the aromatic profile. Medium-bodied, the wine is a modern interpretation of their classic vintage styles. It presents a lively profile with purity in the fruits; however, these fruits, while clean and pure, exhibit a crisp, zesty edge. The finish leaves a touch of orange citrus atop the vibrant currants. The wine blends 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. 11% press wine was added to the blend. 12.6% ABV, 3.53 pH. The harvest took place from September 17 – October 8. 2024 Brane Cantenac Baron de Brane – Margaux – Flowers, and red currant aromas create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, brisk, fresh, and energetic, with a sharp, bright attitude to the currants in the mouth that carry through to the finish. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 50% Merlot, 12.8% ABV. Drink from 2027-2037. 88-90 Pts

2024 Cantenac Brown – Margaux – Spicy, peppery, leafy currants with floral accents define the opening profile of the wine. On the palate, the wine is juicy, round, soft, sweet, and fresh, with a vibrant finish that allows it to resonate with black cherries and a savory backend. The estate credits part of its success to the new cellars, which enable precise vinifications. The wine blends 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27.5% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV, The Grand Vin was produced using only 52% of the harvest. 2024 Cantenac Brown Brio de Cantenac Brown – Margaux – Flowers, with black cherries pop in the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, round, forward, and fruity, with a touch of savory herbs on the backend. The wine blends 69% Merlot, and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2027-2036. 88-90 Pts

2024 Cantenac Brown Alto de Cantenac – Bordeaux – Pineapples, white peaches, lemon curd, and orange rind notes are all over the place on the nose and palate. Fresh, sweet, and, most importantly, energetic, the wine balances its fruity sweetness with its crisp energy. The wine was produced from a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Semillon, and 3% Sauvignon Gris, which was included for the first time in the blend. Drink 2027-2031. 92 Pts

2024 DIssan – Margaux – Flowers, currants, black cherries, boysenberry, cocoa, and a hint of espresso create an aromatic profile. Medium-bodied, elegant, and refined, the wine is soft, silky, and energetic, finishing with layers of sweet, ripe, juicy red and black fruits that linger on the palate. The purity in the mid-palate extends through to a rich, elegant finish. The wine is made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Picking took place September 26, October 8. 2024 DIssan Blason d’Issan – Margaux – Black cherry, and floral aromatics open this easy-to-like, fresh, charming wine with its open character, and soft, fruity, finish. This will be perfect for near-term drinking while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. Drink from 2027-2037. 89-91 Pts

2024 dIssan Jardin d’Issan – Vin de France – Juicy lemons, grapefruits, white flowers, pears, and white peach notes fill the aromatic profile. Reminding me of a bright Northern Rhone white wine, with loads of juicy, fresh, white peaches, sweet juicy pears, lemon peel, honeysuckle, and a touch of honey in the finish. The wine blends Rhone grape varietals, 35% Roussanne, 35% Viognier, 20% Marsanne, and 10% Rolle, which is usually planted in Vermentino. Drink from 2026-2030. 91 Pts

2024 Dauzac – Margaux – Black cherries, currants, espresso, tobacco, and spice kick off the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, chewy, and charming with its display of deep red fruits, savory herbs, and spice on the palate, which you also taste and feel in the finish. The wine blends 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 23% Merlot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2045. 91-93 Pts

2024 Dauzac Aurore de Dauzac – Margaux – Black currants, cedar, and flowers pop in the nose. The medium-bodied palate is soft, light, and fresh, with a forward, juicy, fruity, character. You can enjoy this with pleasure on release. This is a special parcel selection from their gravel terroirs. The wine blends 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 12% Petit Verdot. 12.5% ABV. 2024 Dauzac Franc de Pied – Margaux – Black currants, flowers, and forest leaves from the nose. The medium-bodied palate is light, fresh, and bright, with notes of currants, and spice from start to finish. The wine is produced from ungrafted rootstock 100% Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 2015. The wine is aged in small amphora. 12.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2037. 90-92 Pts

2024 Dauzac La Bastide – Margaux – Earthy currant, cedar, and cigar box aromas, with a touch of spice create the character here. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, easy-going, and forward, with a nice soft touch on the palate, making this perfect for early drinking pleasure. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 12% Petit Verdot. The wine is produced from a parcel selection from the estates gravel and clay terroirs. Drink from 2027-2034. 88-90 Pts

2024 Desmirail – Margaux – Flowers, currants, tobacco, and a touch of cedar fill the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, approachable, and easy-drinking, with a creamy-textured finish making this easy to drink, so you can enjoy this on release with pleasure. Drink from 2027-2038. 89-91 Pts

2024 Deyrem Valentin – Margaux – Already offering its medium-bodied, espresso, currant, cherry, licorice, and floral character, with just a year, or two of bottle age, the wine will be easy to drink, and should age and develop for 12-15 years with ease. Drink from 2028-2040. 90-92 Pts

2024 Ferriere – Margaux – Flowers, red currants, and cherries already pop in the nose. On the palate, the wine is zesty and crisp, with a blast of peppery cranberries and bright, crunchy red plums that remain with you from start to finish. The wine is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 12.2% ABV. The yields were quite low at 16 hectoliters per hectare. 2024 Giscours – Margaux – Vibrant, and silky in the mouth, the wine delivers its layers of sweet, lifted, black cherries, dark cocoa, refreshing mint, spice, and strawberries. There is elegance, and length, with a fruit-filled, refined, energetic finish. Give it a year or two in the bottle, and the wine will be even better. The wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV, pH 3.71. Harvesting took place September 18 – October 11. Drink from 2028-2045. 95-93 Pts

2024 Kirwan – Margaux – Flowers, red currants, and leafy tobacco notes are on display in the nose. Medium-bodied, sharp, vibrant, and crisp on the palate, the wine finishes with spicy, red berries, and peppery herb sensations, topped off by a refreshing note of mint at the end of the finish. 2024 La Fortune – Margaux – Flowers and cherries pop in the nose of this forward, medium-bodied, charming wine. On the palate, there are ample soft, round, elegantly-textured currants that will be perfect on release, or with just a year or two of aging. The wine blends 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 33% Merlot. 2024 La Gurgue – Margaux – Spicy, red currants, peppery herbs, and hints of flowers form the nose. On the palate, the wine is quite crisp, and crunchy, with an energetic, orange-tinted, bright, red currant, and peppery cranberry finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, with 15% Petit Verdot.12.1% ABV. Drink from 2028-2038. 87-89 Pts

2024 La Sirene de Giscours – Margaux – Quite floral in the nose, with notes of cherries, and black raspberries. On the palate, the wine is instantly likeable with its open, spicy, fruit-filled profile. I like the slight touch cocoa that comes in at the end of the finish adding a bit of roundness to the black raspberries. The wine blends 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 48% Merlot. 2024 La Tour de Mons – Margaux – Flowers, red cherries, and a touch of wild herbs form the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, bright, crisp, and chewy, with a vibrant, red berry finish. The wine blends 57% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. 12.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040. 89-91 Pts

2024 Labegorce – Margaux – Black raspberries, flowers, smoke, lead pencil, and cherries open the wine’s aromatics. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, soft, chewy, and crisp, with a racy character to the red fruits, complemented by a minty edge in the finish. The wine blends 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040. 90-92 Pts

2024 Lascombes – Margaux – Black currants, smoke, forest leaves, and tobacco aromas crowd into the perfume. On the palate, the wine is juicy, energetic, and complicated by the cedar, and tobacco that blends with the black currants on the palate. There is a spicy touch of refreshing mint that pops in at the end of the finish. The wine blends 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and an even mix of Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Harvesting took place September 13-October 9. The aging program is 60% new French oak, with a lighter toast, used barrels, and foudres. Drink from 2028-2042. 91-93 Pts

2024 Lascombes Chevalier – Margaux – Blackberries, and leafy herbs are what you initially find here. The wine is medium-bodied, brisk, fresh, and vibrant, with a racy, red currant, soft-textured, open finish. You can enjoy this on release. The wine blends 70% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2027-2037. 87-89 Pts

2024 Malescot St. Exupery – Margaux – Licorice, black cherries, smoke, and chocolate aromatics kick off the wine. On the palate, the wine is fresh, juicy, vibrant, and medium-bodied, with a touch of peppery, chocolate mint that rides along with the cherries, and currants in the finish. The wine is a blend of 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. The harvest took place October 1-October 15. Drink from 2028-2047. 91-93 Pts

Philippe Basculles Chateau Margaux “Fermentations took place at slightly higher temperatures than normal, starting at 20°C and finishing between 28°C and 30°C, which helped us achieve more body and roundness in the wines. “

2024 Chateau Margaux – Margaux – Lilacs, roses, violets, and white flowers combine to propel the aromatics before unveiling the wealth of black cherries, blackberries, espresso, cocoa, and nutmeg. A wine of finesse and charm, the palate enjoys layers of sweet, spicy, black, and dark red fruits. There is lift and energy, coupled with a relaxed palate presence, allowing you to enjoy this in its youth as well as age it for decades. The almost zesty finish refreshes and resonates with its aromatic profile and elegance. Clearly, this is one of the stars of the vintage. The wine blends 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 12.8% ABV. 3.61 pH, 14% press wine. 46% of the crop was placed into the Grand Vin. Picking took place September 23 – October 8. The key to their success here was the ability to wait for ripeness and selection. Drink from 2030-2055. 95-97 Pts

2024 Chateau Margaux Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux – Margaux – Quite floral in nature, you also find ripe black cherries, plums, espresso, and a touch of tobacco wrapper in the aromatics. On the palate, the wine displays its charming character with ease. Medium-bodied, fresh, crisp, and juicy, with sweet black with red currants, and cherries with freshness, and vibrancy. The wine was made from blending 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. 12.9% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040. 91-93 Pts

2024 Margaux Pavillon Blanc – Bordeaux – Crisp lemons, flowers, honeysuckle, orange rind, white peach, green apples, cinnamon and green apples form the core of the character here. Zesty lemons, and pomelo with sweet tangerines, paired with the right amount of lift is perfect on the palate, and it carries all the way through to the finish as well. The wine is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.13% ABV. 3.2 pH. Harvesting took place only in the mornings, from September 2 – September 8. Drink from 2026-2038. 95 Pts

2024 Marquis dAlesme – Margaux – Black cherries, peppery herbs, flowers, and black raspberries blend to create the nose. The wine is piquant, edgy, and bright, with a crispness to its character giving you a big, crunchy bite of red currants and peppery spice in the finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV. 3.5 pH. The harvest took place from September 16 – October 6. Yields were only 32 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2028-2045. 90-92 Pts

2024 Marquis de Terme – Margaux – Blackcurrants, flowers, cherries, espresso, and cigar box aromatics are already expressive. The wine is soft, seductive, and forward, with a core of plummy fruits with touches of spice, and mint in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2045. 91-93 Pts

2024 Monbrison – Margaux – Red currants, flowers, peppery herbs, and spearmint form the character here. Medium-bodied, bright, and crisp, the vibrant red fruits, with their peppery, spearmint accents are present from start to finish. This will be at its best in its youth. 2024 Palmer – Margaux – Black raspberries, smoke, espresso, black cherries, dried flowers, and strawberries form the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, elegant, vibrant, and refined. The wine is light, but, not too light, with just enough depth, and concentration to provide length and width in the finish. The wine is not about its depth, it is about its purity, and refinement. The wine blends 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 41% Merlot. 13.2 % ABV, 3.75 pH. The yields were small at 22 hectoliters. Only 40% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. The harvest took place September 25 – October 10. Drink from 2030-2050. 94-96 Pts

2024 Palmer Alter Ego dePalmer – Margaux – Flowers, sage, currants, and spice, with a background note of espresso effortlessly create the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, fresh, and sweet, with a mélange of black cherries, black raspberries and currants that create the lighter, silky styled profile that carries through from start to finish. The wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV, 3.7 pH. Drink from 2028-2042. 91-93 Pts

2024 Paveil de Luze – Margaux – Black currants, and flowers define the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, forward, bright, fruity, and early-drinking, so you can enjoy its vibrant, currant, and cherry charms on release. Interestingly, the wine was produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2027-2040. 89-91 Pts

2024 Prieure-Lichine – Margaux – Flowers, licorice, smoke, black, with red currants, and plums come through in the aromatics. The medium-palate is soft, round, and subtle, with elegant, ripe, black cherries displaying an almost creamy edge to the texture which carries through to the fresh finish. The wine blends 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2042. 92-94 Pts

2024 Rauzan Segla – Margaux – With a good depth of color for the vintage, the initial aromatic profile serves up violets, rose petals, currants, black cherries, licorice, and an array of spices. On the palate, the fruits are sweet, supple, and aromatic, with vibrance, and lift, allowing for length, and some expansion, leaving you with bright, crunchy black cherries, and peppery mint notes that carry through. The wine blends 63.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, .and 05% Cabernet Franc. 12% Press wine. 13% ABV, 3.7 pH, yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare. 2024 Rauzan Segla Segla – Margaux – Fruity, and floral on the nose, the wine is soft, almost creamy on the medium-bodied palate. From there you find black cherries, currants, licorice, and a touch of spice that carries through from the mid-palate, to the minty-fresh finish. The wine blends 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47.5% Merlot, and 1.5% Petit Verdot. 13.% ABV. Drink from 2026-2040. 90-92 Pts

2024 Rauzan-Gassies – Margaux – Mint, tobacco, cedar, flowers, red currants, and spice pop in the nose. The palate is vibrant, spicy, juicy, crisp, and with a strong kick of spearmint on the mid-palate, and in the refreshing finish. The wine blends 73% Cabernet Sauvignon with 27% Merlot, 13% ABV. Harvesting took place September 24 – October 7. Drink from 2028-2040. 90-92 Pts

2024 Siran – Margaux – Savory herbs, tobacco, cedar, and a hint of espresso form the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, bright, fruity, and fresh, with a sweet, red currant character, touch of peppery spices, and savory herbs that show on the back end. The wine blends 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. Harvesting took place September 19 – October 3. Drink from 2027-2038. 91-93 Pts

2024 Du Tertre – Margaux – Minty cherries, tobacco, and cedar notes are easy to find. The palate is medium-bodied, lifted, vibrant, and fresh, with a focus on its core of soft, cherry fruits, with their refreshing, spearmint finish. You can enjoy this early in life. The wine blends 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Harvesting took place September 24 – October 8. Drink from 2027-2040. 90-92 Pts

2024 Du Tertre Les Haut – Margaux – Forward, medium-bodied, soft, ready-to-drink, accessible cherry and strawberry-filled wine for early drinking, charming, pleasure. This will be easy to drink on release. Drink from 2027-2031. 87-89 Pts

2024 du Tertre Blanc – Vin de France – Pineapples. white peaches, tangerine, and assorted spices fill the aromatic profile. Fresh, energetic, even racy on the palate, the wine leaves you with zesty orange and yellow citrus, and a splash of white peaches. The wine blends 33% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay, 23% Gros Manseng, and 14% Viognier. The wine is vinified in stainless steel and barrel-aged in 60% new, French oak barrels.
