The following 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape wines were all tasted in my home office in non-blind tasting conditions.

2019 Dauvergne Ranvier Grand Vin – Medium-bodied, lighter-styled, forward, kirsch and cherry-filled, soft, silky-textured wine that will offer a lot of charm in its early drinking youth. Drink From 2022 – 2031. 89 Pts

2019 Durieu Chateauneuf du Pape – Peppery kirsch, strawberry and herbs make themselves right away. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, soft, round, bright and spicy, leaving you with a blast of black cherry, plums and more cherries in the endnote. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 90 Pts

2019 Durieu Blanc – Medium-bodied, fresh, bright and crisp, with nice lift on the medium-bodied, lighter palate. Drink this in its youth for all its up-front, juicy, sweet, fresh citrus character. Drink From 2022 – 2027. 89 Pts

2019 Duseigneur Catarina – Olive tapenade and peppery kirsch open this medium-bodied, ripe, soft and sweet, elegant charmer. The fruits display freshness and lift, with a white pepper-tinged finish. You can drink this on the young side. The wine is made from 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 91 Pts

2019 Duseigneur Songe de Catherine – The wine opens with a touch of smoke, flowers, kirsch and raspberry. Bright, fresh and silky with a medium-bodied, elegant character, give this a few years in the cellar to fill out and it will be an even better wine. The wine is made from 100% Grenache. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 91 Pts

2019 Duseigneur Matteo Pictor Pape – Peppery Provencal herbs, olive, flowers and kirsch start off this medium-bodied, forward, easy-to-like charmer. Soft and fruity, with freshness and a forward approach, you can easily drink this on release. The wine is made from 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 90 Pts

2019 de Ferrand Chateauneuf du Pape – Flowers and herbs de Provence with layers of sweet, fresh, pure, ripe, red fruits on the nose and its silky-textured, lush palate already pop with pleasure. The wine is layered, complex and energetic. This is so good now and it is only going to get better from here. The wine blends 90% Grenache, 8% Syrah, and 2% Mourvedre. Drink From 2024 – 2036. 94 Pts

2019 Ferrando Colombis – Elegant, fresh, refined and vibrant, the wine shows off its layers of silky-textured kirsch, black raspberries, red cherries and floral notes from start to finish. As good as that is, it is the soft-textured palate presence with its purity of fruit that steals the show. The wine was made from 100% old vine Grenache. Drink From 2023 – 2037. 98 Pts

2019 Fines Roches – Medium-bodied, lighter-styled, fresh, forward charmer that focuses on its purity and readily, available, sweet, soft, red fruits with ease. The wine is a Grenache-dominated blend with Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and 1% Muscardin. Drink From 2021 – 2031. 89 Pts

2019 Fines Roches Forget Me Not – Smoky red fruits, a touch of citrus, licorice, flowers and spice get everything going here. Medium-bodied, soft, spicy, elegant and fresh, this medium-bodied, interesting wine is ready to go. I did not use the term “Interesting” in the pejorative sense. I mentioned it because I am fairly certain this is the only Chateauneuf that is produced using only 100% Vaccarese, hence the moniker, “Forget Me Not!” You can start drinking this on release. 2019 Fines Roches Blanc – Forward, early-drinking, lighter-styled charmer which is already drinking just great. Enjoy this in its youth to retain and enjoy its ripe fruits. Drink From 2021 – 2026. 87 Pts

2019 Font de Courtedune – Flowers, kirsch, cherries, wild strawberry and spice fill the perfume. On the palate the wine round, lush, fresh, sweet and vibrant with an array of fruits, peppery spice and olive tapenade in the finish. The wine is a blend of 99% Grenache along with various assorted other allowable grape varieties. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Font du Loup Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Roasted red fruits with a spicy touch on the nose and palate get everything off to a nice start. Medium-bodied, elegant, refined, fresh and silky, you find a fabulous sense of purity to the fruit here. This is already a treat to imbibe. The wine blends 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, and 5% Cinsault and should be just perfect to start drinking as soon as the wine hits the shelves. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Font du Loup Le Puy Rolland – Produced from 100% old vine Grenache, this elegantly styled, refined, fresh wine is ready to show off its core of sweet cherries, kirsch, raspberry and strawberries with no waiting. The wine is medium-bodied and vibrant with a soft, silky, kirsch-packed finish. You can start enjoying this gem on release. Drink From 2022 – 2035. 95 Pts

2019 Fontavin Cuvee Tradition – A touch of vanilla, smoke, flowers, plums and kirsch pop with no effort on the nose. On the palate, the wine is forward, soft, medium-bodied, polished and fruity with a blast of ripe kirsch in the end note that sticks with you. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 90 Pts

2019 Fontavin Terre d’Ancetres – It is all the just cracked black pepper-covered kirsch and tapenade that gets your attention on the nose. The fruit is earthy, meaty, herbal and fresh with loads of concentration, length and dusty tannins with a note of cocoa on the backend of the finish. The wine blends 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Drink From 2024 – 2037. 93 Pts

2019 Fortia Cuvee du Baron – Meaty with loads of pepper, flowers and spice, the wine is juicy and fresh, with the perfect kick of sweet, crisp, kirsch on the mid-palate which carries through to the finish. Drink From 2024 – 2037. 93 Pts

2019 Fortia Reserve – Produced from 100% old vine Grenache, this beauty kicks off with savory herbs, dried red fruits, flowers, licorice, crushed rock and kirsch notes before moving on to the ripe, sweet, energetic, blast of silky kirsch and wild strawberry fruits on the palate and in the chewy, fruit-filled finish. I like the intensity that carries through to the finish. Drink From 2023 – 2037. 94 Pts

2019 Fortia Tradition – The Mourvedre adds a fabulous degree of peppery spices and grilled meat to the nose here. Long, chewy, fresh and sweet, the finish serves up loads of dark red fruits, along with sweet, fresh kirsch with a peppery kick in the endnote. Drink From 2024 – 2034. 91 Pts

2019 Galet des Papes Chateauneuf – Sweet, spicy and a bit tart, the wine is round, forward, fruity and fresh, with ample sweet cherries in the finish. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 88 Pts

2019 Galet des Papes Vieille Vignes – Medium-bodied, peppery, fresh sweet and round in its approach, the wine is forward and fruity with a strong olive tapenade note coinciding with the juicy kirsch in the finish. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 89 Pts

2019 Gardine Chateauneuf du Pape – Smoke and coffee bean are apparent on the nose, along with dark red fruits, licorice, olives, herbs and earth. Round, lush, fruity and already just great to drink today, the ripe fruits are generous, mouth-filling and rich, with a touch of cocoa and espresso that comes through along with layers of perfectly ripe fruits. This decidedly modern styled wine is already fun to taste. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Gardine Cuvee de Generations – Full-bodied, richly textured, long and dense, the wine is packed with loads of sweet, ripe, deep, dark, juicy, fruits, licorice, spice and a touch of smoke. This is a wine to drink in its youth as there is never any SO2 used during bottling. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 92 Pts

2019 Gardine Cuvee de Generations – Smoke, oak, espresso, licorice and black with red and blue fruit aromas are all over the place here. Concentrated, powerful, rich and intense, this is built for the modern hedonist. It is quite a stylized wine, but if this is your thing, you are not going to find a better example. Drink From 2025 – 2040. 93 Pts

2019 Gardine Cuvee de Generations Marie Leoncie Blanc – From a blend of 90% old vine Roussanne, and 10% Clairette the wine pops with spicy white peaches, flowers, orange rind, nuts, vanilla bean and citrus, Opulent, lush and rich, with layers of ripe, sweet, lusciously textured fruit, there is volume, depth, viscosity and freshness here. Drink From 2023 – 2032. 95 Pts

2019 Gardine Blanc Chateauneuf du Pape – White flowers, honeysuckle, orange peel, mango, citrus, and a tinge of vanilla come through easily on the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, elegant, supple, fruity, fresh and ready to go. Drink From 2022 – 2029. 91 Pts

2019 Georges-Lombriere Blanc Cuv̩e Thais РNuts, white peach and citrus combine to create the nose. On the palate, the wine is light, juicy, fruity and fresh with a blend of orange and citrus in the plush finish. Drink From 2022 Р2028. 90 Pts

2019 Georges-Lombriere Cuv̩e Marie РMedium-bodied, refined, elegant wine focused on its purity, freshness and vibrance. The finish is packed with loads of sweet, ripe, kirsch, cherries and spice. Drink this young for all those sweet, ripe red fruits and their lingering finish. Drink From 2023 Р2033. 93 Pts

2019 Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape – Soft, supple, sweet and fresh, the wine is already just great to taste with its layers of sweet, lusciously textured red fruits, hints of cocoa, herbs, pepper and dashes of olives. This is already a treat to taste and it is only going to get better with a few years in the bottle. The wine was made from 100% Grenache. Drink From 2023 – 2038. 93 Pts

2019 Giraud Cuvee les Grenaches de Pierre – Incredibly concentrated, yet light on its feet, here you find countless layers of elegant, vibrant, sweet, perfectly ripe, silky red fruits with intensity, purity, length, balance and complexity. This beauty was produced from 100% old vine Grenache. It will age and evolve for 15-20 or more years with ease. Drink From 2025 – 2040. 98 Pts

2019 Giraud Les Gallimardes – Earthy, rich, spicy and fresh, the blend of olives, garrigue, peppery red fruits, strawberries and black raspberries hit the spot. Full, deep and concentrated, the wine is elegant, fresh and long. You can enjoy this young, or age it for more complexity and nuance. The wine was made from blending 90% Grenache with 10% Syrah. Drink From 2024 – 2037. 96 Pts

2019 Giraud Les Galimardes Blanc – Rich, showy, fresh and packed with layers of lusciously. rich, opulent, white and yellow fruits with spices, this is already just great to drink. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 94 Pts

2019 Grand Tinel Alexis Establet – Earthy, floral, herbal, and already displaying loads of sweet, fresh, ripe, cherries and kirsch, with purity, elegance and lift, this refined wine is going to be delicious with only a modicum of aging. The wine is made from 100% old vine Grenache. Drink From 2024 – 2037. 95 Pts

2019 Grand Tinel Heres – Lush, plush, opulent and concentrated, there is a lot of intensity, length, purity and decadence here. Even with all of that going on, there is a purity to the fruit along with lift and complexity, but it is a very intense style of Chateauneuf du Pape that might not be for everyone, I am digging it! Produced from 100% old vine Grenache, the wine should age for up to 2 decades. Drink From 2025 – 2035. 94 Pts

2019 Grand Tinel Chateauneuf-du-Pape – With a strong floral note the wine opens with soft-textured, sweet cherries, wild peppery strawberries and hints or black raspberry and mildly chalky tannins. This is quite refined and energetic. Plus, it has the ability to age and evolve quite nicely. The wine blends Grenache with healthy dose of Syrah. Drink From 2023 – 2036. 93 Pts

2019 Grand Tinel Les Roussannes de Charles Blanc – Produced from 100% Roussanne, the wine is rich, oily, round and showy, with a nutty, floral, white peach and pomelo nose and palate. I like the length, freshness and fruit here. The wine is made from 100% old vine Roussanne. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 92 Pts

2019 Grand Tinel Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape – With a nose packed with white peach, pomelo, flowers and orange, the wine exudes fresh, crisp citrus with peach and mango on the palate. Round, ripe and fleshy, the wine finishes with freshness and citrus. The wine blends 60% Grenache Blanc, 25% Clairette and 15% Roussanne. Drink From 2022 – 2029. 92 Pts

2019 Grand Veneur Le Mioc̬ne РFull, rich, ripe, opulent and forward, the wine exudes layers of sweet, lusciously textured, ripe red fruits, flowers, herbs and thyme. The finish has energy length and richness, ending with an array of showy, ripe berries. This will drink well with just a year or so aging. Drink From 2023 Р2034. 93 Pts

2019 Grand Veneur Les Origines – Dark in color, the wine is incredibly lush on the palate with loads of silky textured, black cherries, black plums and a few blackberries tossed in good measure, which is all topped off with licorice, herbs, spice and thyme in the finish. The wine was made with a blend of 50% old vine Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 94 Pts

2019 Grand Veneur Vieilles Vignes – Almost inky dark in color, the wine serves up a full-bodied, richly textured blast of spicy, black and red plums, dark cherries, peppery kirsch, wet earth, espresso, smoke and herbs. This is long, dense and intense with a serious richness to the texture that sticks with you from the mid-palate all the way through the extensive finish. The wine was made from blending 45% Grenache, 45% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. There is a lot going on here, so give it a few years for the oak to integrate and for the wine to fully come together before popping a cork. Drink From 2025 – 2038. 97 Pts

2019 Grand Veneur Blanc La Fontaine – Produced from 100% old vine Roussanne, the first thing you notice is the honeysuckle before moving on to the nuts, lemon curd, orange rind, flowers and herbal tint on the nose before hitting the lusciously textured, fruit-filled palate. Medium-bodied, lush, round and fruity, this should drink well on release, yet age for a few years as well. Drink From 2022 – 2032. 94 Pts

2019 Grand Veneur Blanc Le Mioc̬ne РQuite floral in character, with touches of minty herbs and citrus on the nose, the wine is sweet, fresh and forward, with a blend of white peach nuts and orange with yellow citrus in the finish. Drink From 2022 Р2032. 91 Pts

2019 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape – Forward, opulent, polished, fresh and sweet, the wine exudes charm effortlessly. On the nose you find smoke, touches of wood, thyme, earth, cherries and herbs. Round, ripe, long and rich, this should be delicious on release, yet it should age well for over a decade with ease. The wine blends 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. Just give this a year or two and it will be good to go. Drink From 2023 – 2034. 93 Pts

2019 Janasse Cuvee Chaupin – I love the floral character, peppery spices, smoke and array of black and red fruits that come to the forefront with ease. Rich, lush, and concentrated with an elegance to the wines character, this 100% old vine Grenache asks for just a few years in the cellar and it should fill out nicely. Drink From 2025 – 2037. 97 Pts

2019 Janasse Vieilles Vignes – Deep, dark and brooding, the wine is concentrated with layers of black cherries, red plums, black raspberries, kirsch, licorice, peppery spices, espresso and earth. There is a lot of power here, so you will need to give this time to develop, integrate and come together. But it will be worth the wait. The wine is made from blending 85% old vine Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, and 5% Syrah. This is one of the top wines of the vintage. Drink From 2026 – 2040. 97 Pts

2019 Janasse Blanc Chateauneuf du Pape – Bright, fresh, juicy, crisp and packed with ripe, round, citrus, mango and spice on the nose, the wine is lush, round, fresh and crisp on the palate. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 92 Pts

2019 Jas de Bressy Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Elegant, refined, soft, medium-bodied, forward charmer with loads of ripe, earthy, savory, kirsch notes on the nose and palate. This is going to be just great on release and should provide a lot of pleasure for 12-15 years. The wine was made from 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 92 Pts

2019 Jas de Bressy Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Blending Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, the wine offers a mineralistic tone to the vanilla, citrus, almond and floral packed wine. There is lift and freshness to the medium-bodied, fruit-filled finish. Drink From 2022 – 2028. 90 Pts

2019 Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Round, lush and fruity with layers of ripe, sweet, juicy red berries from start to finish. There is a nice depth of flavor to all the layers of sweet kirsch on the palate and in the finish. The wine was made using 90% Grenache, 5% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. Drink From 2023 – 2032. 93 Pts

2019 Jean Royer Cuvee Les Sables de la Crau – White flowers and peppery cherries are all over the place here. Medium-bodied, soft, refined and polished, the fruit is pure, fresh and clean with just a minor touch of spice on the backend. The wine was made from 100% old vine Grenache from vines located in the La Crau lieu-dit. Drink From 2022 – 2034. 93 Pts

2019 Jean Royer Prestige – Flowers, cherries and herbs come through easily. The soft-textured wine is medium-bodied, forward, refined and elegantly textured, leaving you with a juicy mouthful of ripe cherries and a hint of dark chocolate in the endnote. The wine was made by blending 80% Grenache with 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Drink From 2023 – 2033. 93 Pts

2019 Jean Royer Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Pomelo, spice, flowers, and a touch of orange pop with little effort on the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh sweet, ripe, forward and fruity with an energetic blast of citrus and white peach in the finish. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 92 Pts

2019 Jean-Paul Clement Grand Reserve – Garrigue, earth, olives, underbrush and red fruits come through quickly in this medium-bodied, forward, piquant-styled wine. Drink this on the young side. Drink From 2022 – 2030. 89 Pts

2019 Jean-Pierre Boisson Creation d’Emilie – Medium-bodied, elegant, soft, polished and fresh, there is a beautiful sense of purity and elegance here on the nose and palate, finishing with touches of licorice, spice, cherries, kirsch and red plums. The wine is made from blending 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2023 – 2035. 92 Pts

2019 Jean-Pierre Boisson Domaine du Pere Caboche – Medium-bodied, elegant, soft, forward and already open, here you find a core of sweet, red raspberries, strawberry and cherries interspersed herbs and silky textures. You can enjoy this beauty on release. The wine is made from blending 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink From 2022 – 2033. 91 Pts

2019 Jean-Pierre Boisson Domaine du Pere Caboche Vieille Vignes Elisabeth Chambellan – Definitely on the fruit side, with loads of strawberry, red cherry and kirsch on the nose and medium-bodied, soft, fresh sweet, elegantly textured palate. Open, forward and already accessible, this is going to be simply great to drink on release and over the next 10-15 years after that. Drink From 2022 – 2033. 92 Pts
