But the best wines, primarily from the appellations in the Northern Medoc Pauillac and St. Estephe are compelling! Some outstanding wines were also produced in St. Emilion. Pomerol should be avoided. The sweet white wines of Sauternes and Barsac are rich, spicy and frankly delicious. Although some selection is needed as the wines can be cloying.
