2021 Saint Emilion Satellite Appellation In Bottle Tasting Report

All of the following 2021 St. Emilion Satellite Appellation wines were tasted in my home office in non-blind tasting conditions.

2021 Barbe Blanche – Lussac-St. Émilion – Earthy, with a touch of mint and spice that sits on top of its cherries. The wine is medium-bodied, crunchy and crisp, with a vibrant edge to its finish. Drink this on the young side. Drink from 2024-2031. 87 Pts

2021 Bernon Bécot – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Earthy fruits with a tobacco, slanted-edge come across easily in this soft-textured, medium-bodied, rounded wine. The chewy plums in the finish wrap everything up nicely here. Drink from 2024-2030. 87 Pts

2021 Clarisse Vieille Vignes – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Soft-textured, forward, early-drinking charmer with a polished, plummy, herbal core of fruit, with an intriguing touch of chocolate that is present on the mid-palate and in the red-berry-centric finish. You can enjoy this on release. Drink from 2024-2032. 90 Pts

2021 Clarisse Vieille Vignes – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Black cherries, licorice, chocolate and flowers create the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is soft, polished, fresh and fruity, with a dash of citrus that adds more lift to the backend. Drink from 2024-2035. 90 Pts

2021 Clos Albertus – St. Georges-St. Émilion – Forward, fresh, and with a strong, mint note in the nose and on the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a savory, chalky, olive-oriented finish. Drink from 2024-2032. 88 Pts

2021 Clos de BouardMontagne-St. Émilion – With a nice depth of color, the wine pops with espresso, spice, flowers, smoke and red fruits in the nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, supple and creamy with a sweetness to the fruits, along with chocolate and a touch of oak that still needs to integrate. Drink from 2024-2036. 91 Pts

2021 Clos de Boüard Dame de Boüard – Montagne-St. Émilion – Spice, licorice, flowers, and cherries form the core of the nose and palate. The wine is medium-bodied, forward, soft and supple with a sweet and tart, bright, red fruit oriented finish. Drink from 2024-2030. 88 Pts

2021 Corbin – Montagne-St. Émilion – Notes of flowers and plums fill the perfume. The palate is soft, fresh, medium-bodied, forward and vibrant, with a slight, chocolatey edge to the red fruits, along with a hint of spice in the finish. Drink from 2024-2033. 88 Pts

2021 Courlat – Lussac-St. Émilion – Earthy cherries with a touch of cranberry and spice form the core of this medium-bodied, fresh, soft-textured, early drinking charmer, with a nice hint of chocolate that finds its way into your glass in the endnote. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 Croix de Rambeau – Lussac-St. Émilion – Forward, floral and fruit, this is a nice, easy-going, soft-textured, lighter-styled wine for early drinking consumption. Drink from 2024-2029. 86 Pts

2021 De Bellevue – Lussac-St. Émilion – Dark chocolate coated red plums with a strong herbal note on the palate is right there from start to finish in this medium-bodied, tangy, herb-centric wine. Drink from 2023-2028. 85 Pts

2021 Des Laurets Baron – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – espresso, smoke, licorice, chocolate and dark red fruits pop with ease in the nose. On the palate. the wine shows off its vibrant, black raspberries with their soft-textured edge from start to finish. This will be just great on release. Drink from 2024-2033. 89 Pts

2021 Guibeau – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Flowers, smoked cherries and spice form the core here. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, vibrant and fresh with light plummy, olive-tinted finish. Enjoy it on release. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 Guibot La Fourvieille – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, forward, chalky, bright, red berry and herb centered wine for early drinking. Drink from 2024-2032. 88 Pts

2021 Haut Bernat – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – A nice blend of tobacco, herbs and red fruits are found here, in the nose, and on the palate. The wine is medium-bodied, forward, open and ready to serve up all of its red fruit character with ease. Drink from 2024-2031. 89 Pts

2021 La Bastienne – Montagne-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, bright, fresh, red fruits with a touch of tangy citrus and a strong chalky overtone in the finish. Drink from 2024-2029. 86 Pts

2021 La Greniere – Lussac-St. Émilion – Flowers, olives and cherries pop in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a dark chocolate edge to the chalky plums in the firm, finish. Drink from 2024-2032. 88 Pts

2021 La Greniere Cuvee de la Chartreuse – Lussac-St. Émilion – Flowers, smoke, cherries, and licorice notes are found in the nose, and on the palate. The wine is forward, soft, fresh and focused on its red plum, mint and cocoa finish. This will easy to enjoy on release. Drink from 2024-2033. 90 Pts

2021 La Mauriane – Puisseguin-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, soft, fresh plummy, the wine offers its core of red berries, chalky tannins and olive accents with ease. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 La Papeterie, Château – Montagne-St. Émilion – Black raspberries, espresso, flowers, licorice and spice work together to form the core of this medium-bodied, soft, creamy, red plum filled wine, that will be quite easy to enjoy on release. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 La Papeterie, Château – Montagne-St. Émilion – I like the chocolate plums on the nose. The medium-bodied, firm palate has a strong herbal, and olive edge in the middle and in the chalky finish. Drink from 2024-2032. 87 Pts

2021 La Rose Perrière – Lussac-St. Émilion – The nose offers its blend of espresso, licorice, spice and red fruits easily. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, high-toned and fresh, with a strong citrus note that cuts through the peppery herbs on the backend. 2021 Lyonnat – Lussac-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, bright, fresh red cherries with touches of mint, licorice, spice and cocoa on the nose and on the palate. The wine is ready to go for pleasant, early-tasting pleasure. Drink from 2024-2031. 88 Pts

2021 Lyonnat Emotion – Lussac-St. Émilion – Produced from 100% Merlot, this medium-bodied, soft, fresh, polished, round, fruity wine delivers of plums, black cherries and touches of cocoa easily. 2021 Malengin Eve – Montagne-St. Émilion – Licorice, and peppery black cherries create the core of this medium-bodied, soft, early-drinking, fresh wine. The wine is made from 100% Merlot. It is also interesting as it is one of the few Bordeaux aged entirely in amphora. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 Reclos de la Couronne – Montagne-St. Émilion – Flowers, black cherries, incense, and orange rind shine from start to finish. 2021 Rochers Cuvée Prestige – Montagne-St. Émilion – Dark red berries, cocoa, smoke and licorice form the entry point here. On the palate, the wine is forward, supple and soft, which is perfect to deliver the sweet plums in the finish. Drink from 2024-2032. 89 Pts

2021 Roudier – Montagne-St. Émilion – Earthy, red fruit, flowers and, citrus shine in the nose and on the medium-bodied, fresh, soft, red fruit filled mid-palate and finish. The wine is fresh and vibrant, with a touch of salt from beginning to end. Drink from 2024-2034. 89 Pts

2021 St. Georges – St. Georges-St. Émilion – Leafy herbs, flowers and cherries are on display as soon as the wine hits your glass. On the palate, the wine is soft, forward and fresh. There is a vibrancy in the fruits on the palate that is quite nice. Bright, leafy, green and herbal with salty, crisp red fruits on the palate and in the finish. Drink from 2024-2033. 89 Pts

2021 Tabuteau – Lussac-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, forward, simple, uncomplicated, quaffer with a tart edge to the fruit in the finish that is best for early drinking pleasure. 2024-2028. 83 Pts

2021 Tour Bayard – Montagne-St. Émilion – Medium-bodied, firm, fresh and plummy with an earthy herbal edge to the nose and palate, the wine is forward with some polish that adds to the finish. Drink from 2024-2029. 88 Pts

2021 Tour du Pas St. Georges – St. Georges-St. Émilion – Bright, crisp, fresh, soft and polished, there is energy and lift to the almost, high-toned fruit on the soft-textured, lifted palate. This is a new wine from Hubert de Bouard that could be a wine to look out for, for value seekers. Drink from 2024-2034. 89 Pts

2021 Vieux-Chateau-Palon – Montagne-St. Émilion – Incense, espresso, cherries, plums and citrus form the nose. Soft and creamy, vibrant and bright, though the oak remains a part of the wine from start to finish. If it integrates, it will be a better wine. Drink from 2024-2034. 90 Pts
