Chateau Margaux Thomas Do-Chi-Nam New Technical Director

Chateau Margaux names new Technical Director, Thomas Do-Chi-Nam for the historic First Growth Bordeaux chateau.
 
Do-Chi-Nam leaves Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande after holding the job of Technical Director at that famed Pauillac estate since 1992.  The outgoing technical director, Philippe Bascaules, is moving to Napa, where he will direct the historic Inglenook vineyard that is owned by Francis Ford Coppola. Thomas will not take over as technical director at Margaux until after the 2011 harvest at Pichon Lalande.

Chateau Margaux Director Paul Pontallier is excited about having Do-Chi-Nam join the team at Margaux.

A:  Paul Pontallier  -” I have known Thomas since he’s started working at Pichon Comtesse almost 20 years ago.”

A: Paul Pontallier – ” His qualities: he is a competent and experienced professional as well as a smart and cultured person. He will be able to understand quickly Château Margaux’s personality and help expressing it even better.”

Q: Jeff Leve – The Wine Cellar Insider:  Do you expect or plan on any changes at Chateau Margaux now that Thomas is the new Technical Director of your Bordeaux wine making?

A: Paul Pontallier – “We considered making a lot of changes indeed which were planned long ago, and Thomas will be very helpful in putting them together. At the same time, we welcome his outsider’s view / opinion on everything we do now.”
