From 100% Old Vine Grenache, this is pure, bottled intensity. Extremely sweet and a bit jammy on in the nose, the packs 2 bottles of wine into 1. Thick, dense, full bodied and multi layered, the wine coats your mouth, teeth gums and palate. There is a purity of fruit that is impossible not to get. But there is also a massive wall of fruit that might not be for everyone, but I have to say, I was blown away! The wine reached a whopping 17.2% alcohol. There is a touch of heat, but there is so much fruit, you might not notice it. This unique expression of Chateauneuf du Pape is not for everyone. It is in the same style as the special cuvee from Henri Bonneau.

You can see the level of concentration of fruit in the deep color, and sense it on the palate with the decadent levels of sublime pure, ripe, fresh berries, silky tannins and in the long, rich finish. Usseglio has been on fire since 1998! This is a beautiful style and expression of Grenache with a track record for aging.

From 100% Grenache, made from insanely low yields of 16 hecoliters per hectare, the wine reached 16.5% alcohol. Yet there is no touch of heat in the concentrated, deep, lush, ripe, licorice, black cherry liqueur and floral wine. I love this stylish wine. Mon Aieul is one of the most consistent producers of Chateauneuf du Pape.

Mature, full-bodied and intense. The initial sip was a bit hot, but that quickly faded. The wine offers a wealth of ripe, dense, dark, red, spicy fruits, herbs and some chocolate that tastes, smells and feels great. The old vine intensity really comes through.
