I have had much better bottles, but it's been a few years, so it is hard to say, if this was just this bottle, or has the wine and close to 50 years of age faded. My bet is, it was a little of both. That aside, the wine offered a haunting nose of flowers, smoke, dark cherry liqueur, tobacco and truffle. There was richness and length. So what is the quibble? It did not offer the same length as the Trotanoy, and there was some rusticity in the tannins. Few wines live up to their legendary status, especially as time passes.
