2009 Château La Fleur de Boüard Le Plus  (Lalande de Pomerol) 93

Still amazingly dark in color, the wine is intensely concentrated. It is big, rich and dense, with loads of black plum, smoke, chocolate, coffee and espresso bean. Mouth-filling, long and concentrated, give the wine a few hours in the decanter or wait another 5 years before pulling a cork as the oak needs to better integrate.

It took about 45 minutes of air until the wine softened, filled out and offered a sensuous, velvety layer of plums, dark chocolate and cherries, with wet, earthy accents. The oak was still prevalent, and did not subside with air. It was not enough to overpower the wine, but it was present. I am hoping the oak will better integrate and perhaps, another 5-7 years of age will make it happen.
