2019 Domaine de la Mordorée Cuvée de la Reine des Bois  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 96

Dark in color, the nose pops easily with all of its dark red fruits, licorice, coffee bean, cocoa and floral notes. Rich, lush, deep and expansive, there is an elegance to all of that power on the palate, which leaves you with layers of lushly textured, black and dark red berries. Give this a few years in the cellar to develop, soften and integrate and it should be ready to go. Drink from 2025 - 2037 96 Points

With a nice depth of color, the wine pops with its smoke, oak, olive, cherry and earthy core of fruits. There is a good depth of flavor, round texture and incense with a dab of spice as well as a touch of oak in the lushly textured fruity finish. Give this a few years in the cellar to develop, soften and integrate. 94 Points

2015 Domaine de la Mordorée Cuvée de la Reine des Bois  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 95

A consistent winner, the kirsch stands out. Even though 25% of the wine is aged in new wood, most of that has already been sucked up by the wine. Silky, polished and fresh, the wine is sweet, juicy, sensuous and fresh. The fruit is just delicious here, which is perfect for the lushly textured finish. A good reason this is showing so well is by the recent addition of a second wine to their lineup. The wine was produced from a blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah, 2% Vaccarese and 2% Counoise. 95 Points

Keep in mind this is a second wine, and with that in thought, this is just great. Fresh, black raspberries, wild strawberry and herbs are at the center of this, round textured, forward wine, which was made from blending 90% Grenache, 4% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre, 1% Vaccarese and 1% Counoise. 91 Points

2014 Domaine de la Mordorée La Belle Voyageuse  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 90

For a second wine, this is a beauty. The fruit is ripe, sweet, fresh and vibrant. Medium bodied and forward, this is quite a charmer, in all the right ways with its lush, kirsch and smoke filled character. 90 Points

2014 Domaine de la Mordorée Cuvée de la Reine des Bois  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 93

One of the top wines in this vintage, but that should come as no surprise to long time readers. Showing a good depth of color, the wine delivers an earthy, smoky, truffle, espresso and cherry filled core, with elegant, polished, round textures and freshness in the fruit filled, smoky finish. I'm sure this vintage was helped by the recent addition of a second wine to their lineup. The wine was produced from a blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah, 2% Vaccarese and 2% Counoise. 93 Points

Full bodied, luscious, powerful, rich, ripe, and dense, the tastes like a barrel sample. The wine is incredibly concentrated and palate staining. This is no shy wallflower. Alcoholic, but there is so much fruit, you do not even notice it. Give it a few hours in the decanter. 95 Points

2012 Domaine de la Mordorée Cuvée de la Reine des Bois  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 94

Deep in color, with just a hint of oak along with the flowery, spicy, jammy, smoky, black raspberry filled perfume. Sweet, sexy, lush and plush, the fruit is ripe, sensuous and fresh. This will probably rise in score as the wine ages and the oak integrates. Made from a blend of 80% Grenache, and various percentages of Mourvedre, Vaccarese, Counoise and a dollop of Syrah, the wine reached 15% alcohol with no touch of heat. 94 Points

Licorice, vanilla and spice framboise couple with floral notes to create a smoky, sensuous, rich wine, finishing with ripe plum notes. A few years of age should add even more complexity to the wine. 93 Points

I love the texture of this rich, velvety, kirsch, black raspberry, pepper, anise and earthy wine. It's long, deep and concentrated, but there is a touch of oak, that should become better integrated with time in this modern styled Chateauneuf du Pape. 95 Points

2003 Domaine de la Mordorée Plume du Peintre  (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) 100

This is a wine that does not come my way too often With a production of about 125 cases, it is easy to understand why. I cannot believe the power, concentration, richness and depth this still offers, considering it is from 2003. This is not a delicate wine. It is full-bodied, showy and mouth-filling, with layers of ripe and very ripe, deep red fruits, smoke, licorice, earth and black cherry. This is an intense drinking experience that is better accompanied by a big slab of beef. It is also a stylized wine, so it is not for those seeking a delicate experience. Interestingly, there is no heat or jammy qualities, even at 17 years of age. It could get better, but if you are one of the lucky few to have a bottle, pull a cork and check it out. Along with Cuvee da Capo, this is the wine of the vintage. 100 Points

If you've ever been curious as to what a 100 Pt Chateauneuf du Pape tastes like, one sniff, swirl and sip will explain it all. Inky in color, with aromatics packed with stone, pepper, earth, garrigue, licorice and kirsch liqueur, the wine is fat, rich and incredibly concentrated. This Chateauneuf du Pape paints your palate with waves of perfectly ripe, black cherry, herbs and dense, intense fruit. The finish lasts for more than 60 seconds! 100 Points

La Plume du la Pientre. Boom! That’s what happened when the cork popped and the perfume blew out of the bottle. Jammy blackberries, truffle, licorice, spice, pepper, molten cherry and blueberry liqueuer caught your attention and kept it there. The mind-blowing levels of perfume was intoxicating to smell. Massive, with insane levels of concentration, this wine coated your palate with flavors and textures for over 60 seconds. But don’t let the size fool you. Everything was in perfect balance. Only 1,500 bottles of this wine was produced for the world! This was bottle #521. 100 Points

Intense does not begin to describe the explosion of flavor this wine offers. Massive concentration, dense, rich, ripe, spicy, jammy berries, pepper, earth and fennel scents are all over the place. This opulent wine coats your mouth and feels like molten berries. The long finish lasts close to 60 seconds. This is not your grandma's Chateauneuf du Pape. But I loved it! 98 Points

Quite charming with its spicy kirsch, cherry, garrigue, and peppery profile. Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, and refined, this is no longer at its peak and has started its slow decline. It is not urgent to finish it up, but if you are sitting on several bottles, you should be popping those corks. 94 Points

This bottle seems to have just slipped past maturity. There is still a lot to like here, with its all its lush, ripe, sweet, juicy, peppery kirsch, black cherry, thyme and earthy notes. But it seems to lack the same level of intensity and power found in previous bottles from the same case. Note to self, try another bottle in the moderate future. 95 Points

At 17, this is still going strong. The oak is completely integrated, the wine is richly concentrated, and you're left with more than enough, lushly textured, ripe, red fruits, pepper, earth, black cherry, jam and thyme to satisfy. Popped and poured, this is showing quite well today. 97 Points

Served double blind in a flight of the best 2001 wines from Chateauneuf, this came out first! With 2 hours of double decanting, the wine announced its presence with its dark, almost opaque color. On the palate, the wine was incredibly intense. It was rich, vibrant, erotic, fresh and opulent in character. Packed and stacked with layer after layer of ripe, sweet, pure, juicy fruits, the wine filled your mouth, coated your palate with flavor and lingered as you waited for another sip. The oak was completely integrated. This was the best showing for this wine I've yet tasted. 100 Points
