2007 Ojai Syrah Roll Ranch Vineyard  (California) 92

Just starting to open, this Cote Rotie blend, (due to the small amount of Viognier in the blend) offers fresh black raspberry, fennel, floral and blackberry scents. Soft, round and structured to aqe, this is an elegant, fresh style of California Syrah. The wines of Ojai age quite well. I still have a few bottles from the late 90's that taste remarkably young.

2000 Ojai Syrah Special Bottling Thompson Vineyard  (Santa Barbara County) 94

I've been sitting on this bottle for almost 14 years! It's a dead ringer for a Cote Rotie, with its floral, barnyard, cherry, licorice and smoke profile. Lush, polished, full bodied and full mature, the wine leaves you with earthy, black cherries in the finish.

1997 Ojai Syrah Cuvée Henry Daniel  (Santa Ynez Valley) 95

This corpulent, thick, complex and concentrated wine is packed with so much ripe fruit, the 15.9% alcohol is not even noticeable. Very well balanced. This should evolve for at least another 10 years.
