Surprisingly good, and in much better than the fabled 1961 and many other mature vintages of Talbot, the wine offers the perfect blend of tertiary notes and ripe, dusty, fresh piquant cassis and cherries. On the fresh side, but in the exact ripe proportion, the wine provided character, sweet and tart red berries and a gorgeous cedar and tobacco stained charm. There is no reason for further aging, but if you find a bottle in great shape at an auction, it is worth taking a chance on.
