Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional (Porto)
Warm, powerful, concentrated, big, unformed and seemingly quite young, this is all about the potential when the wine matures and all the elements are melded together. The wine is more mineral driven, with freshness and energy at this stage, instead of lush, sweet, chocolate cherries and figs. I do not drink much Port, and very little of it is Quinta Noval Nacional, but I suspect, another 20 years is needed before this is at peak. 4,302 Views Tasted Nov 7, 2016 |

I almost never taste Quinta do Noval Porto Vintage Nacional. But I seem to have enjoyed 2 bottles this year! With layers of fig, raisins, chocolate covered cherries and Cointreau with licorice, the nose clearly rocks. Full-bodied, lusciously textured and rich, the wine leaves you with a massive wave of warm, sweet, cherry, dark chocolate and raisin liqueur. The finish goes on and on. A true, Port lovers dream. 4,472 Views Tasted Nov 20, 2018I do not get to taste a lot of Port. And out of all the Port I do get to taste, I almost never see Quinta do Noval Porto Vintage Nacional. The chocolate covered cherries, figs, raisins, orange peel, date and thyme scented perfume hit the spot. Light in color, served double blind, I was sure this was a much older wine. The finish, with its ripe, sweet, red berries and dark chocolate was supple and long. However, I must admit, I was shocked to discover how much this wine sells for! For the quality and price, I'd much rather buy a bottle of Grahams or Taylor. 5,001 Views Tasted Nov 24, 2014 |

Now, here's a wine you do not see every day. It was not the most concentrated Port I have ever tasted. But the incredible sense of purity in the fruit was overwhelming. It was as though all the fresh sweet, bursting cherries, orange and figs were just picked from the tree. Add in beautiful notes of licorice, dark cocoa, raisins and sweet, warm, spiced fruits. I am big on style and character, and this has both. 2,878 Views Tasted Nov 1, 2018 |
