Clearly, this is in contention as one of the best vintages of DP ever produced. The power, levels of concentration, balance, freshness, purity and complexity are off the hook. The yellow citrus, green apple, honeysuckle and brioche are backed up with the perfect amount of refined effervescence, providing lift, energy and elegance. Texturally this is beautiful on your palate This is a high-end Champagne worth laying down a case for the future.

Notes of brioche, lemon peel, minerality, cocoa powder and citrus, this medium bodied wine has good freshness, ripe fruits and energy, but lacks the weight, depth, excitement and complexity of other recent, more heralded vintages. If I was currently looking for more Dom Perignon, I'd buy more of the 2002 today.

Bread, yeast, light citrus, apple and an interesting hint of cocoa create the nose. The wine lacks the lift and minerality found in some of the more exalted years, but it makes up for it with concentration, density and lushness. Plus, it's already open, charming and fun to drink.

Vibrant, fresh, lively, soft and forward, the zesty, effervescent, fresh, sweet, ripe red fruits shine. Very polished, creamy, elegant expression of Champagne.

The pink, red hue looks great with all those bubbles and the wine follows through from there. The combination of fresh, strawberry, brioche, apples, almonds and orange peel, with zesty acidity, and effervescence was a big hit in my glass. The wine combines, elegance, lift, sweet fruits and freshness. I prefer the regular 2002 Dom Perignon but this was still a treat.

Minerality essence, citrus, tropical fruit, floral, honeysuckle and toast aromas prepare you for the complex, concentrated, sweet yellow fruit and stone filled palate. Creamy, but not as flashy, opulent or open as the 1996 was at the same stage. There seems to be more structure and minerality to the 2002. This needs at least a few years or longer to come together.

Lots of brioche, nuts, pears, and citrus, with good freshness and effervescence, but as an example, lacking the intensity and minerality found in the 1996, Dom Perignon.

Spell binding bottle of Champagne. Disgorged in 2014, there was so much brioche here, I thought I was in bakery. There was a vibrancy and energy to the wine that keep all that pure fruit right out in the front. The effervesce was exactly what it needed to be with textures that promoted its beautiful finesse character. Worthy the money? That is another issue. But price aside, this is in contention for one of the best bottles of Champagne I have ever tasted.
