1999 Philipponnant Clos des Goisses

1999 PHILIPPONNANT CLOS des GOISSES BRUT- for such a challenging vintage, this champagne has to be one of the best produced in 99` at least as far as recent evolution is concerned. I`ve had many a bottle and with the exception of one which was oxidised, they all have been getting increasingly better in the past few years; this was beautifully balanced giving up generous amounts of spicy white peach and citrus fruit with lemon and lime standing out; it had bright acidity and was served up in a medium to full body and maintained its steady pleasure through the finish; 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay.

Cheers,
Blake
