Chateau Rayas

Post by joe.waller » Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:08 pm

?
I have a 750 ml 2003 Reserve Chateau Rayas Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. On the lower right of the label, just below the word "France," there is a small "L02." What is that/what does it mean? Thanks, JW

Thanks for the post Joe! I'm sorry to say, but I have no idea. I looked at my only recent vintage of Rayas in my cellar, the 2007 and I think the same, small printing is on my label, in a circle, under the word France. I am a bit jealous as I imagine 2003 Rayas is quite a treat! When are you planning on opening a bottle?

I recently had an excellent Rayas red 2003.
15. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rayas rouge 2003 : 17,5/20 – 21 november 2015
Vin solaire, ardent. Profil éthéré, balsamique, cacaoté, épicé, fruité (confiture de fraises). Marqué par le millésime, indéniablement, mais on a moins de doute sur son avenir que dans le cas de Marie Beurrier 2003.

The 2001 coming after was great (19/20, definitly among the 20 WOTY).
