Re: A memorable dinner near Bordeaux (in french)

Wow! What a night of wine! 1995 Rayas is a treat. I am happy to have a few bottles put away....

Re: 22 Spanish wines for lunch including 89`/94` Unico

I love both those vintages of Vega Sicilia Unico. 1989 is my favorite. It is one of the few wines I wish I had bought, in the old days when they were not that much money. Such is life...

Re: 2004 CHATEAU PALMER XIXth CENTURY BLEND

Blake, 2004 is the first vintage of this unique wine produced by Chateau Palmer. Having tasted every vintage produced, at least in my opinion, the 2004 remains the best vintage produced yet for this special cuvee'.

Laurent... Yes, you are right about Rayas. Although I have no idea about Rayas pre 1978. Les Cailloux, at least to me is more up and down. Plus they were not really making strong wine before 1989. I have tasted Clos des Papes back to the 1930's and they have been extraordinary!

Re: 2004 PAUL AVRIL CLOS des PAPES CHATEAUNEUF du PAPE

Hi From Bordeaux!

I love Clos des Papes!!! If I had to pick one wine that has been on top in the appellation over the past 50 years, it is Clos des Papes. Such a great style of wine. It is everything great about the region...

Re: 2016 Bordeaux purchasing theme

Figeac was out today and got some. Thought the price was pretty reasonable given consistently high scores. So with lynch, pichon baron and figeac I think that's it for now. It is said that there is something in buying a famous name, maybe that the score will move higher or the wine will have better...

Re: 2016 Bordeaux purchasing theme

2016 Lynch Bages is a very good wine. Probably one of the best wines they have ever produced. You should buy the 2016 Figeac, regardless of what it costs, as it is that good. For you, the same for La Conseillante. But it will be pricey.... That is my guess...

Hey Dave...It has been a while. If it is just Pauillac you're thinking of... Pichon Baron & Pichon Lalande are both potential 100 Pt wines! Pontet Canet is just a bit behind those 2 stunners. Did you read my guide to 2016 Pauillac yet? http://www.thewinecellarinsider.com/2017/04/2016-pauillac-tastin...

Blake... You guys are my hero's. You drink more Guigal than anyone I know. I am always a little bit jealous, just so you know.

I was lucky enough to taste great old Laville Haut-Brion (1948, 1955).
Now, it is my turn to be jealous! I have never seen, let alone tasted a bottle of Laville Haut Brion older than the 1966. What are they like?

Re: 2016 : my greatest wines

Happy Holidays Laurent! Had I waited, I would have changed my list twice. Once, because I recalled a wine that was deserving of a place on the list and perhaps a second time, because I would of added 1978 Jaboulet La Chapelle! But still, I am happy with my list of the 10 best wines tasted this year....

Re: 2016 : my greatest wines

I only have 2 more tastings this year, about the middle of December. One of Rhone and the other, of course, Bordeaux. I am fairly certain Laurent, that both of those tastings will not equal the bottles I have already tasted over the past 11 months. So, maybe I can put my list together next week. You...
