Robert Parker issues last California Report today. It's the end of an era.

[INDENT] Robert Parker announced he as handing over the responsibility of reviewing California wine to Antonio Galloni, February 5, 2011. Marc... Do you ever go to Bordeaux to taste in April? As for prices, one never knows what will happen until it happens. But my guess is, as of January 31, 2010 will be priced between 10% & 15% less than 2009. That's not much of a discount. The vintage will have have problems selling in America, but ...

Hi Izak.... Thanks for posting. You are correct. One never knows about a vintage if they only listen to comments from winemakers or owners. It will be interesting to taste the 2010 Bordeaux wine vintage in April. From what I know, it will not a be a sexy, rich, opulent vintage like 2009. The wines w...

Hi Tony 72 is a very bad year for all Bordeaux wines. But if any wine from 1972 has value, it's Lafite. However, the condition of the wine and the label is important. Bottles in good condition could bring $300-$500 per bottle. You can try to consign them to an online auction house like Acker Merral....

Re: Sauternes & Barsac with food.....

Mark... That's a great tip! I usually prefer salty cheese or simple sweets with Sauternes and of course foie gras. What fruits do you grill? And do you like the pairing with young as well as older Sauternes?

Re: Pomerol/Feytit Clinet

Hi Rishad Thanks for posting. Pomerol is the most expensive Bordeaux wine appellation. It combines low production with high quality and demand. That is a recipe for pricey wines. But there are some nice Pomerol's if you know where to look. My first tip is, when you read that the vintage is good for ...

Re: Sauternes & Barsac with food.....

HI Izak

Thanks for posting. For me, I prefer Sauternes with cheese or foie gras. I have a lot of friends that like sweet wines with different meals. But for my own palate, it's a bit too much.

Re: Bottle-to-bottle variation

Recently Jeff Leve described an experience with an '83 Margaux as: Tasted for the third time in two weeks. Each bottle has been different ..... Which lead me to a topic that I've been thinking about for some time now but never heard discussed. How wines bottled side by side and stored side by side ...

As you know, I love 82 Leoville Poyferre. It's not only one of the top wines from 1982, it's also a contender for the best quality t...

Re: Chateauneuf du Pape book by Harry Karis

Thought I'd give wholehearted endorsement of Harry Karis' new book, "The Chateauneuf du Pape book". I just visited there and this book single handedly enriched my experience, deepened my knowledge, and expanded my appreciation of Chateauneuf du Pape wines. Great gift for a wine lover. DISCLOSURE: I...

Hi Holly... Sorry for the delay in responding. The truth is, the forum was not really up and running yet. I was busy working on the main site. But the forums are about ready to be used. I do not have enough information on the wine you are asking about. However, the name implies it is a simple, gener...
