A perfect and mythic Egon Müller Riesling Scharzhofberger TBA 1999, during the auctions, last week.

Such a great sweet wine ... (so expensive)

I can perfectly understand, Martin.

But these are exceptions in the world of very old wines.

Jeff, Of course, I was not lucky enough to taste the very old gems you mention ... (no Cheval 47, Chapelle 61, Mouton 45 our yours in my palmares, unfortunatly). I could like them if the are as lively than BAMA 1947. :) I was addressing more "ordinary" very old wines, mostly exhausted in their flavo...

Jeff, For me, it is hard to demand any genuine complexity to a young wine (even more maybe in Bordeaux). I am OK for Haut-Brion or Rayas 1989 or Dujac Gevrey Combottes 1989 today, in terms of real complexity. And I must admit that I am not a great fan of old wines (but I really liked a 1934 Grivelet...

Martin, How could a CdP 2008 be really complex in 2011 ? (long, balanced, thin, promising ... OK). Probably more approachable than Beaucastel, for instance. 2008 should provide fresher wines than in 2007 (Beaucastel, with its Mourvèdre, is a rather "fresh" success in this hot vintage) and 2009 : for...

Jeff, I really loved that Château Margaux 1990 a few years ago (it came along with a perfect Cheval-Blanc 1982). Margaux – Château Margaux 1990 : 98/100 (june 2006) - Not as good a few years before, on a previous bottle - Palette intense et racée, encore cryptique, compacte, toute en maturité, noire...

Thank you. I will do my best to answer you in english. As often before, Jadot was not appreciated : oaky wines, tough, low typicity. Chermette/Vissoux produces "easy" and interesting wines. Brun (Domaine des Terres Dorées) was not in the panel (do not forget that he also produces Condrieu and Côte-R...
