Re: Wine Investment Advise

I don't know how much you want to spend or what areas you are interested in. I would start with large wine stores that offer free or cheap tastings. Google "wine tastings" in your area. Tour wineries.

wine letdown

Jeff, A tasting I had booked months ago just cancelled and I am really bummed out. So a friend, who you might know suggested I take that $1900 and buy some wine that is really singing now. So I would probably want a six pack or case of either left bank or St. Emilion, red wine. I am betting you have...

Re: Wine Investment Advise

Very interesting question. I would call winebid and get some information from them. I haven’t looked on winebid recently but I used to, and I would see the same oversized bottles on the site, month after month. I wouldn't sell my own wine but that’s just me. So if I purchased an oversized bottle for...

Re: half bottles

Those are some very good ideas. I will try to incorporate them into my cellar style!

Re: half bottles

That makes sense Jeff. Do you use the Coravin? If so do you have a system? After you Coravin a bottle do you keep that bottle in the cellar or upstairs in the fridge or at room temperature? Do you coravin a limited number of bottles ? If you don’t use it I would like to hear how others are integrati...

Re: half bottles

After I wrote that I wanted to mention that I own a coravin but have not really used it. The coravin could be used for full bottles but I want to buy a number of different wine names and years of half bottles as I can buy more of the half bottles than full bottles.

half bottles

Hi Jeff, Do you have any rules/guidance on figuring out the drinking windows for half bottles of Bordeaux as compared to 750's? I am specifically interested in cheval blanc, leoville poyferre, latour, angelus, cos, LMHB, HB, Mouton, Lafite, SHL. Am planning on buying half bottles for drinking with d...

Re: Glassware advice

Zalto universal

razor thin so its more about the wine and not the glass
narrow base so you can have multiple glasses in front of you if you are tasting multiple wines

Re: 2016 Bordeaux purchasing theme

Oh, I just meant whether it's better to buy a wine of greater pedigree than a lesser one where both have the same rating. For example, Figeac is 200 bucks and ausone is 800 but both have the same rating. Should critics give these wines the same rating, they are saying they are the same in terms of q...

Re: 2016 Bordeaux purchasing theme

Figeac was out today and got some. Thought the price was pretty reasonable given consistently high scores. So with lynch, pichon baron and figeac I think that's it for now. It is said that there is something in buying a famous name, maybe that the score will move higher or the wine will have better ...
