Kapcsandy Vertical

Ross Weissman organized a great tasting of Kapcsandy wines last night in White Plains. We didn’t quite get to a complete vertical, but we hit a pretty strong range of the wines: • 2004-2009 Gran Vin • 2005-2009 Roberta’s (minus the 2007) • 2008 Estate Cuvee • 2009 Endre • We also had the 2010 Rose a...

From a full vertical in 2006... I thought 1994 was clearly my WOTN, followed by 2001, 1991, and 1990. While I liked the 1995, it didn’t do as much for me as it did for others. I found it a bit less well integrated than some of the others. Lots of stuffing, but less balance than my favorites. For a y...

Tony -- very surprised. I think the 2001 is another 1994. Just a super wine. I have had it several times -- from bottle and magnum and it has always been super. Jeff and I had the 2002 on release and hated it. I had it a couple of years later and still like 2001 more, but agree with Jeff it has sett...

Even though Leoville had already split into Las Cases, Poyferre, and Barton all three were grouped together under Leoville (largely based I assume on th fact that the classifaction was based on historical valuations and some of the splits were pretty close to 1855). Oddly, the original doument shows...

Re: 1995 Latour

One of the more affordable Latours. Last time I had it (about 2 years ago) it was really quite strong. I prefer 1996, but will want to see how they evolve over the years

Re: 1982 Leoville Poyferre

A very nice wine. It can be as good as any of the super seconds in 1982
