I'm not Jeff, but they do use 100% new oak and it can take some time for the oak to completely fade. I wish I could taste them more often to know for sure, but we seldom see the in our circle. :(

I have not been to Bazzar in quite a while. Our last visit was great! I could have ordered those foie gras cotton candy skewers all night long. I like the Muga wines, but my favorite from Rioja is Vina Real. Do you know the wine?

Hi Blake

You gentlemen really drink nice where you live. 86 and 1982 Gruaud Larose are my 2 favorite wines from that estate. Did you find the Monbousquet oaky at all?

It is a little quiet around here 8-) I look forward to seeing your new BBS. The rest of The Wine Cellar Insider looks and works great. Thank you for all you do.

Re: First Look at 2015 Bordeaux Futures.

Thank you for all the tasting notes and buying tips for 2015 Bordeaux. I am hot to trot on some of the 2015 Pomerol wines you waxed and raved about.

Blake, I have not yet had either wine. But if you could only have one, would you prefer a bottle of Redigaffi or Masseto and if you have a moment, why?

Re: 18 top bordeaux incl Latour, Mouton, 4 Cos, Pichon + ++

Along with Mr. Leve, I think I am jealous too. The only wine from your list I have tasted lately was the Cos d'Estournel 1982, which was quite lovely. Thank you for sharing.

Re: 1975 dinner

Not that I get to taste mature older Bordeaux wines all that often, as they are pricey bottles these days. 1975 Bordeaux has never really rocked me. The wines are so hard and tannic. I will look for the 1975 Pichon Lalande Howard suggested.

Re: En Primeur First Timer

I'm not in the wine business, except as a drinker. But one day, if I ever get to Bordeaux, I want to go to the Bordeaux En Primeur tastings. It looks like it would be an amazing few days of wine.

Re: St. Émilion Grands Crus Classés Tasting

I am going to the the same St. Émilion Grands Crus Classés Tasting in Los Angeles Saturday at The Wine House. Because there are not so many chateau, it will be easier to meet the owners. At least I hope so.

I love the 1986 Gruaud Larose. I also have a few bottles of 1986 Leoville Las Cases, but I think I will be old before the wines are ready to drink.

Thank you for the post Blake. I really like reading about old California wine. I know more about Mount Eden Chardonnay than Cabernet Sauvignon which made this even more fun to read.

Re: Right Bank trip - VCC, L'Eglise Clinet, Cheval Blanc . .

Than you for the post Jeff. The pictures really make it come alive. Where did you stay and what did cost? A visit to Bordeaux is still on the top of my bucket list. And like the other Jeff, what were your favorite places to visit and which wine makers or chateau owners did you find the most interest...
