Champagne bottle thickness

Postby david.gussman » Wed Oct 05, 2016 12:38 am

Hi

Please excuse the information for my first post, thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I was having a debate last night in the pub, that larger sized champagne bottles would have more pressure in them than a standard champagne bottle, therefore would need to be thicker than standard bottles.

Is this correct, i appreciate that they would have to be thicker to support the extra weight, but would a larger bottle have more pressure as well, due to more content?

Hi David

That would be my guess as well. Larger cork, larger surface area and more wine, should give you more pressure.
