    Default TN 2006 Clerc Milon

This was a recent recommendation from a friend and I am glad that I followed up with giving one a try. Another stellar 2006, this is a rich and vibrant young Pauillac. It needs air, but opens up beautifully. The nose takes time, but eventually displays aromas of brier, graphite, cherry, cassis, and pencil. I enjoyed the palate significantly more. Very rich and consistent throughout, this wine produces wonderful flavors of deep cherry, cassis, tobacco, graphite, gun steel, and pencil. Crisp acidity and substantial tannin, the 06 Clerc Milon should sleep for at least another 5 years. Truth be told, I rushed through finishing this before the dreaded heat and humidity moved in, and even more air would have helped quite a bit. This is a great wine that is available for a song! Please do not overlook these 2006s, there are some real winners here and this is one of them. 93+ Pts.

    Hi Jamie

I also like Clerc Milon. It's one of the few value wines in Pauillac, even if it's on the lighter side of the style range. I had the wine a few months ago liked it almost as much as you did. In fact, I also had the 2000 Clerc Milon and a few other vintages this year. Clerc Milon

Clerc Milon is one of the few wines from Pauillac that I still buy, due to price. Everything else is now too damn expensive, except for a special occasion. Grand Puy Lacoste is also I wine I really like. Anyone else?

Wow, sorry Mike, I missed your reply. First off, welcome to Jeff's great site - tons of invaluable information here! Second, I agree with your Pauillac picks, especially Grand Puy Lacoste. I am convinced that 2005 GPL will rival their remarkably consistent and prodigious 1982. Cheers!
