    Post 2001 Masseto

This was an exceptional, unique wine. Intense aromatics of tobacco, exotic red fruits and an unmistakeable minerally soil quality that gave this a true sense of terrior. Also hints of coffee/espresso. Very full-bodied and very elegant at the same time. Lots of tannin but not tight or closed; I get the sense that this will always have some tannin. But a 'juicy' mid-palate gave this a freshness that balanced the tannin very well. Very enjoyable now, but I do think this will improve even more with age. A true drinking experience; I would love to try multiple vintages as I think Masseto's unique personality would come through across many vintages...98 pts.

Scott... Color me green with envy. And that's bright green. I've only had a few vintages of Masseto and they are stunning wines. I wish I owned at least a single bottle in my cellar.

Don't be too jealous, that was my one and only bottle...I sure wish I had a glass left to drink the following day as I suspect it would have been even better but we seemed to drink it all

Count me in on the Masseto camp. My first bottle in the early 90`s was life changing. I`ve enjoyed every opportunity to taste this jewel ever since.
