With the 2009 labels coming out in France, will it say "Appellation XXX Contrôlée" or "Appellation XXX Protégée"? Just a minor trivia, but definitely arouses my curiosity. Thanks!

Where do you hold that "Appellation d'Origin Protégée", David ? Have not hear about it...
So, to me, it sounds like it is "Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée" with no doubt...?

Yeah, to me, Contrôlée sounds a lot better, it's been there forever... but back in 2009, there was a new wine law passed, which affected multiple countries in EU, and replaced the word "Contrôlée" with "Protégée", strange as it sounds. Technically, they have until 2011 to make the transition, but, I'm just curious if the producers are voluntarily switching for the 2009 and 2010 vintages?
