The list that is somehow both very easy, and very difficult to put together, because there is always another wine that should have been there as well. I love mature Bordeaux, so my list is quite big on them. If you could be at a tasting, you could choose whatever wine you wanted (and not have to pay for it)

1945 Mouton Rothschild
1961 Latour
1947 Cheval Blanc
1870 Lafite Rothschild
1900 Margaux
1961 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle
1921 Yquem
ANY top vintage, mature DRC Romanée Conti
1928 Krug Collection
1945 Haut-Brion

I think this would be my tasting. As I have tasted several, but never top mature wines from DRC (never tasted the Romanée Conti) and it's the younger vintages (and often "lesser" vineyards) that impress me. I will start a new tread on that.

What is interesting is : what did I not drink from the two lists

The one of Christer :
I have drunk 1870 Mouton and 1870 Latour but not 1870 lafite
I have not drunk the 1928 Krug
The rest, I have drunk.

Mustafa' s list
1929 La Tache non drunk but RC and Richebourg of this year I have drunk
1921 Petrus not drunk but 1926 was fantastic
The rest, I have drunk.

Francois, you have clearly tasted many of the so called grates there are, and the favorites are?

Two difficult to answer, as to compare Mouton 45 and Yquem 1921 or Krug 1928 has no real sense.

I agree, but there is normally one that sits a little bit closer to the heart anyway:)

Have also been fortunate to taste many of the wines listed already, although regrettably none from the 19th century. I do not really have a wish list anymore, being very content to drink as many wonderful wines as possible, and this is relatively easy in London where there are so many brilliant offlines with very generous participants. For example, next month I am going to a DRC/Rousseau dinner,in which we will be drinking a number of great bottles at the brilliant Ledbury restaurant.

In a dream...

Many have already been mentioned. From oldest to youngest:

1811 Yquem
1900 Margaux
1929 DRC La Tache
1945 Mouton
1961 Latour
1961 Petrus
1961 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle
1988 Guigal La Landonne
1988 Guigal La Mouline
1989 Beaucastel Hommage a Jacques Perrin

And if I had a time machine, a great bottle of ancient Roman Falerno.

This is a great thread. I like seeing everyone's wish list.

For really old wines, I'd like to taste any pre phylloxera, Bordeaux wine or Rhone wine. 1870 Lafite would be the big one. Of course 1811 d'Yquem is also at the top of the list. For more modern wines, anything from 1921 & 1929, my two favorite fully mature Bordeaux wine vintages. I'd like more experience with 1947 Right Bank wines and 1950 Pomerol. 1945 Haut Brion is a dream wine as well. From 1961, Latour a Pomerol is at the top of my wish list. If anyone is wondering what to get me for my birthday, I'm open to any of these wines. :D

Christer... Wow! Good for you! I just read your note. Although I am officially jealous! Where did the wine come from? What was the special occasion to open this legendary bottle?

Christer Byklum

The bottle was the occasion, what more does one need?

The one point of a 100 is just.... well, probably stupid, but even if perfect, it did not give me goosebumps like the 28 Suduiraut, or 62 and 64 Vega-Sicilia Unico or other wines that I've given a perfect 100, but what a wine, utterly magnificent.

The bottle came from the auction house were the 47 Cheval Blanc that turned out to be fake came from, as a compensation for the fake 47. As I did not buy the 47, I do not know the auction house.
