From 100% Tempranillo planted in 1929, this small 4.2 hectare estate produced an inky colored wine. Mineral, flowers and liqueur of blackberry in the perfume are followed by a wine that fills your mouth and coats your palate with sweet, ripe, dense, pure, licorice and fresh, chocolate, boysenberry and cherry. This is long, lush, rich and intense. Based on a recent vertical tasting, the owner, Peter Sisseck said his favorite vintage of Pingus remains the wine’s debut 1995 release along with the 1999.

Inky black in color, this is as close to opaque as a wine can get. Crazy non-stop aromas of coffee bean, licorice, blackberry, blueberry, chocolate, black cherry jam, truffle, spice and smoke pop with little effort. This is huge, yet perfectly balanced and in harmony. There is not a hair out of place. On the palate, the wine coats your palate, mouth, teeth and gums with the essence of pure, rich, extremely, ripe fruit. 2004 Pingus demands your attention. I am not sure I want to drink an entire bottle. But if anyone grabbed my unfinished glass without asking, there would be trouble. I wish I owned this wine to see how it ages and evolves over the next few decades.

This is a very hedonistic style of wine that leaves a long, seamless impression of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry liqueur on the palate.

Massive, powerful, intense and packed with layers of fleshy, ripe berries, while this is not delicate in its personality, there is a fresh, clean, pure quality to the fruit that is not tiring, even with its size.

The second vintage of Pingus offers a potent concoction of black and blue fruit, truffle, earth, espresso and smoke let everyone know, "Dorothy, We’re not in Kansas anymore”.
