Medium-bodied, forward, soft, elegant, and fresh, the wine focuses on its refined, supple, sweet, cherries strawberries, raspberries, and touch of chocolate in the nose, and on the palate. This is not built around power, instead, the wine correctly focuses on its sweet, ripe, red fruits and silkiness. You can enjoy this on release. Drink from 2024-2038.

Once past the espresso, vanilla and cocoa, as the wine has not yet integrated its oak, you do find layers of lusciously-textured, round, ripe, creamy plums and black cherries. However, this is going to take some time in the bottle to allow for the oak to fade, and for the beautiful, dark red fruits to begin to fully strut their stuff. Drink from 2027-2040.

More interesting on the nose with its showy display of chocolate covered, black cherries, plums, espresso, licorice, flowers and mocha, than on the palate, which is lush, sweet and filled with fruit. However the oak shows more than fruit which takes away from the overall experience. Drink from 2023-2040.

Young, incredibly supple, soft, polished, silky fruit, notes of espresso, dark chocolate, juicy plums, licorice and black cherry, made even better with fresh earth scents. Give this another 5 years or so to continue fleshing out and allowing the oak to better integrate.

Another example of how great 2009 Pomerol is going to be. Pure bottled sex, with its layers of opulent, polished, glycerine filled, ripe, sweet, dark berries, chocolate, earth, licorice, blueberry and floral notes. Rich, plush and hedonistic, when mature, it\'s quite possible the s wine should increase in score. This should turn out to be the best vintage of La Fleur de Gay yet!

Really nice Pomerol with the structure to age, that is just starting to display its plummy, chocolate covered, black cherry and truffle charms. Produced from 100% Merlot, give it a few more years for the tannins to soften, as there is a firmness in its texture, this will also help as the wine will continue gaining complexity.

Better on the nose, and in the initial attack than the finish, which is short and simple. The wine was decanted an hour and we kept tasting it over an additional hour and it remained in the same place. The texture is soft and silky, but it just doesn't seem to go anywhere. Perhaps this will get better, but at 11 years of age, knowing this property, I'm thinking this is going to be the wines character.

At close to 10 years of age, this is opening nicely. After 60 minutes in the glass and decanter, the wine softened and displayed its earthy, cherry and cocoa essence. Medium bodied, soft and sliky, with a touch of dust in the finish, drink this now, or age it for a few more years. Either way, it's tasty.

The wine remains deeply colored. Ripe plums, dark berries, earth and bitter chocolate are easy to find in the nose. Full bodied, with opulent textures on the palate, this deep, rich, fleshy Bordeaux wine feels good in your mouth. Already showing well, this is a 2005 that will drink well young. The finish ends with ripe black raspberries and dark plum flavors.

The last bottle in my case. Such is life. And as is often the case, the last bottle was the best bottle as this example showed an opulent character with silky tannins and layers of sweet, ripe, fleshy, polished dark red fruits, licorice, and wet earth and a nice floral accent. If you have a bottle, this is the right time to be drinking it, as it is probably at its absolute peak.

1 hour in the decanter allowed the wine to fill out, soften and show off its round textured, dark plum, bitter chocolate, licorice and cherry character. The tannins are a bit firm here, and initially, there was a bit of olive, and herb, but most of those characteristics faded with air. My last bottle from the case. On to the 2009, in a few years.

Cinnamon, kirsch liqueur, truffle, black raspberry and mocha make up the perfume. Soft and round in texture, this medium bodied wine ends with a fresh, spicy, black cherry filled finish. Aromatics filled with notes of chocolate covered plums, assorted black fruits and hints of licorice. Soft, ripe and plush on the palate. Good body and concentration with an enjoyable, albiet short finish of red and black fruits. This is drinking very well today, although I'm going to wait 2-3 more years before digging into my case.

Slowly fading from its hedonistic peak, this is still an outstanding wine with plenty of Pomerol character. Flowers, chocolate, licorice, cherry and tobacco scents are right in front of you. Medium bodied, elegant, soft and available, the silky cherries and dark chocolate finishes with a bit of dust in the texture. Popped and poured, decanting is not necessary, and neither is further aging.

Spice, mocha, red and black plums, truffle and smoke aromas lead to a round, soft textured, supple, wine. This is fully mature. It is not showing the same opulence expressed in previous bottles. While still an outstanding Pomerol, to get the most of the chocolate, plum, spice and ripe cherry personality, I'm going to consume my remaining bottles over the next 5 years as this is just starting to gently fade away.

One of the fun things about working your way through a case of wine is understanding that each bottle develops at a different pace and sometimes to different levels as well. This was a better bottle of 1990 La Fleur de Gay than the previous example. With its truffle, black cherry, spice, chocolate and earthy profile, the rich, polished, sensuous textures made this wine into a delicious treat. And while it's fully mature, based on this bottle, there is no hurry to drink it.

My last bottle from the case. Such is life. Fully developed, with a truffle, cigar box and earthy, red berry nose, the wine is medium/full bodied, with soft, silky tannins and an earthy, plum filled nose. This has lost some of its weight and depth and has started its slow decline. There is no urgency to drink up, but it's not a wine to hold for further aging.
