Two young but wonderful stickies.

2005 Baumard Quarts de Chaume - Really enjoyed this. A citrus nose with additional scents of sea shells, chalk, and just a hint of minerality. Very crisp. Similar, complex palate that has greater richness and wonderful candied grapefruit and some lemon curd. Brilliant acidity that adds lift and precision. A nice long finish, this has ages to go. 93 Pts

2003 Guiraud - I was expecting this to be like maple syrup next to the Quarts de Chaume, but I was completely wrong. This surprised the hell out of me, and after a wonderful 03 Yquem several months ago, folks may want to take a closer look at these 03 Sauternes. Big aromatic nose of butterscotch, pear, almonds, pineapple, and just a trace of oak. Palate mimics this and is very rich - typical of the 03s. It was the mouthfeel that really impressed me. These 03s seem to be shedding their baby fat, and there is enough acidity to fully delineate the richness and complexity. Wonderful now, but built for the long haul. 94 Pts
