Christer, what do you do for a living and how have I strayed so far from it?
Right now, I'm not doing much. I was Sales and Product Manager for a Norwegian Bordeaux importer (part of an international company), but with Bordeaux sales plumeting in Asia, the business ran out of money, also in Norway. (I'm still employed, but without money, nothing much I can do.....) Before that I worked for another Norwegian fine wine importer, who imports DRC, Leroy, Ramonet, Biondi-Santi and much more good stuff. You get to taste a lot of nice wines working in the business, but I actually taste way more not being at work, from friends and collectors, and producers I visit privately. All the DRC's are from two private tastings as an example. I also have WSET Diploma and a few MW's wan't me to start on the MW programe. But I would love to start to write about wine, there are quite a few books missing out there. I would also love to start teaching wine to people.
So Albert, what do you do?
Wow, that sounds fascinating. Do you think you're going to do the MW program? What would your first book be about? I'll look forward to picking up a copy when it's on the shelf!
I'm just finishing up medical school and getting ready to start my internship. As you might guess, not too many opportunities to taste fine wine there!
MW, I don't know, not that I don't want to, but expensive.... Not the fee in itself, but all the travels to London, staying in hotels, travelling to wine districts all over the world.... And huge amount of reading, also about the not so interesting things in the industry, like if some cheap plonk is worth £3,50 or £4.... On books, I would love to write some in depth books on Bordeaux, Rheingau, Mosel, and maybe Tokaji. Napa could also be interesting.... Maybe Piemonte as well. I don't know. Had a great tasting at the Hungarian Embassy yesterday, many great Tokaji's there....
