    Default 1970 Grand Vin du Marquis de Las Cases

    1970 Château Léoville Las Cases;
    Ruby, towards garnet rim. Superbly elegant nose, integrated, cassis, raw meat, tobacco, fine leather. Fresh acidity, needs a lot of time in the decanter, lively, lovely tannins, long and elegant finish. One of my best 70 Las Cases. 95

    This is not a wine we are going to agree on. I understand why you like it, but I find it too be far too light. But I'm happy you liked it.

    Jeff, I know this isn't your style. This is a very European palate style of wine.

    I had a '70 LLC last winter that I liked but thought was a) more stern in style than even modern LLC and b) a few years past peak. But I noticed the same thing that Christer mentioned - it really put on weight and gained depth in the decanter. I was surprised given the fact that it was 40 years old! Seems paradoxical, right?
