On November 9, an auction will be made for charity purpose, but also for communication reasons, with several lots of 6 bottles of 1911 Moët coming directly from the cellar of Moët.
The cellar master Benoît Gouez has tasted all the bottles when they were disgorged and put away all the bottles which were not perfect.
To prepare the sale, a small group of persons will taste the wine on November 3.
1911 is the greatest year in champagne ever. It is my dream.
Among the 14 wines of 1911 that I have drunk there is only one champagne : Perrier Jouët 1911 of original disgorgement. It was a little tired, but became gently charming.
I am excited to drink this champagne 1911 Moët tomorrow, a legend, which I will drink once again on November 17.

About the Moët 1911 : this is a wow wine, a wine that cannot leave you indifferent.
Now the problem for a collector is what about charity / communication / and true value.
I must make up my mind about that.
Because 1911 is worth a premium in 2011.
But the 1952 was so stellar that I must consider : should I bid for a lot of 6 bt of 1911 at a a price ten times higher than a 1952 that I loved ?
I go to sleep as now it's time for DRC.
But the question is opened.

The 1911 is really a great wine full of balance and complexity. But the 1964 and the 1952 (Dry) were of a significantly equal quality.
We drank 2002, 1992, 1985, 1975, 1964, 1911 and 1952
I have a special feeling for the 1985 still in the youth, and for the 1964 in full maturity.
The 1911 is really something special, out of norm with a hig complexity.
But a 1952 with an extreme subtlety and charm talks even more to my heart.
To taste any wine that is 100 years old is an honor. I've had a few Bordeaux wines that were over 100 years old. But never a Champagne. Do you have a picture of the 1911 Champagne in the glass so we can see the color of it?
All the champagnes were drunk when we were sitting at the table, so on the pictures for which I give a link, you can see the color.
We stood up to drink the 1911 in another room, so I did not take a picture of the glass of 1911.
So color was little more grey and intense, but not that much.
The auction took place.
I was in the room.
I have competed against some phones which stopped rather quickly.
Then the competition was only between a man and me.
He was behind me and I could not see him.
But I remarked that his bids were extremely quick after my bids.
I hesitated, and he never hesitated and bided immediately.
When I was at nearly twice the limit that I had decided, I realised that I was crazy.
I made a last attempt to win, but he bidded again.
I turned around and saw who was against me. He is a Russian man who is a friend and who came three times at my tastings of the "Academy for ancient wines".
He has an unlimited potential to spend money on wine, so I would never have won against him.
I congratulated him and we toasted with champagne talking with the staff of Moët and with the president of the institute who will get the money given for charity.
I am happy to have helped to raise the value of the amount for charity, I am happy to have resisted to madness of prices, but I hate to lose.
As the result is not a secret, I can say that my last bid for 6 bottles was 46,000 € and he won at 47,000 €. A part of the high price is due to charity.
