2007 Leitz "Rottland" Alte Reben
2007 Leitz "Rottland" Alte Reben, Rheingau
The Best Austrian Riesling!
Here we have the notorious voluptuous&overhanging stilistic à la Wachau in form of a massive overripe fruit (Botrytis!).
Creamy, lush flavor-profile of stone-fruits combined with peel of citrus fruits, toffee and a smoky minerality. Normally not a wine for a purist like me, but I am a big fan of Josie´s „Rottland“ since many years, famous the 02 and 05 version. I love this opulent&decadent fruit mixed with a bombastic minerality. And what a drinking pleasure this wine offers.
Finally, I should mention that I miss this special style in his 09 wines, maybe a change of style or it is related to the charateristic of the vintage?! The 09s are clearly leaner and in a certain way more subtle&elegant.
91-92pts.

Maybe I missunderstood you above, but Leitz is in Rheingau, in Germany, not Austria.......

It´s an insider-joke, as the wine is famous for its Wachau-style.
