2010 Chateau d’Issan Harvest, Warm Days, Cool Nights in Margaux

2010 Chateau d’Issan Harvest in Margaux was in good form thanks to a strong September.   Marie Dussech was pleased that even thought 2010 is seen as a draught vintage, not just in the Medoc, but all over Bordeaux, it was not hot  at night like we saw in 2003.  “The difference of temperatures between night and days were ideal to allow the maturity to continue. It was quite cool and fresh at night, while the days were warm. The early September rain arrived at the right moment, to increase the volume a little bit.  The days have brought wind which helps to dry out the dewdrops from the night”.

We asked Emmanuele Cruse  how their harvesting was going. “The full team arrived Wednesday morning.  We have 110 pickers all together. The grapes are gorgeous, quite small, very black, sugary and concentrated. So far so good! We’ll be able to tell you more by the end of next week”.
